Newcomer / Intro What are you up to?

So the question becomes: are you sure you actually SAW them?
There are the Log entries for the Codex:

At Odudungu, Odudungu 5 b, ID49, in Inner Orion Spur, Fungoida Setisis - White, Biological and Geological, Organic structures, New Entry, Nearest: Dzuba Horticultural Facility, 37,1359° -171,5420°
At Odudungu, Odudungu 5 b, ID49, in Inner Orion Spur, Frutexa Flabellum - Green, Biological and Geological, Organic structures, New Entry, Nearest: Dzuba Horticultural Facility, 37,1376° -171,5527°

I would never1 touch my cargo. Especially since the gin is much harder to pick up than the mugs.

1 for a given value of "never"

How much was it worth?

I still find it hard to believe the most valuable thing is just a blob on the ground.
Carrier was closer than I thought...

That's pretty good!

Still though - one would think that the more rare and exotic something is, the more valuable it would be. Clearly, that's not the case in Odyssey. For what reason, I have no clue.
With a whole galaxy to plunder exotic is pretty much the norm for anything that wasn’t made by us and rarity could well only last until someone finds a planet full of the stuff.

OK, just scanned my first decent sized planet with the newly acquired double engineered Surface Scanner. Took 3 probes. Used to take 5 from my regular engineered Surface Scanner.
Yeah, the v1 is a beast! :D
I've experimented with it a bit. I don't have exact figures for all transition points, but the estimates I have are good enough for my needs. :)
1 probe up to 1258 km radius, 2 probest up to about 5035 km radius, 3 probes up to about 9230 km radius and 4 probes up to about 18500 km radius.
When nearing the upper range, I usually lob an extra probe to be sure, that costs nothing.

I'm gradually getting closer to the bubble now at 3,405 LY from Sol and 82 jumps to my base in Deciat. Hardly surprising I guess but most systems now have either been completely or partly discovered by others, but there are still plenty of first map opportunities. Even so, I just came across a completely undiscovered system that amongst other things included a water world and a couple of planets that were candidates for terraforming.

Also I'm not sure how this happened but the system I'm in at the moment has planets with a name on them as discovered, but the star you arrive at on jumping in has no name and is a first discovery for me. 🤔 (The one other star in the system is also a first discovery for me.)

Oh, lookie here, a Codger rock, strike a pose (I wonder if I get a codex discovery for it).
Haha, no, but it's cool anyway, right? :)
Is there a setting in EDO that gets rid of that terrible glow effect around things in SysMap?
I'm not aware of any "terrible glow effect." Maybe we need a screenshot to understand what you mean.

Yes, it is. The Stratum Techtonicas is the most valuable plant. I agree it seems rather dumb.

In the olden days you had to actually point your ship at the star and scan it to get your name on it. Most folks didn't bother since it wasn't worth much credits.

The point is that Stratum is on just about every planet I scan. It's literally everywhere. It's a simple blob and it's worth more than any other biologic out there.
It would be nice it there was an in-game / lore explanation for this. Maybe they make anti-thargoid ointment or something out of it?

Where do you think Rockforth Foods come from?

There is a very definite "glow" which I notice more if I have a certain HDRi mode selected on my monitor. To illustrate its presence and extent I have done a severe mangle of a screenshot to really "bring it up":

It obviously isn't anything like as bad as that on screen.

I do get passengers wanting first class cabins which is why I put those in my size 6 slots.
Yes, I see a few of those.

But I'm also getting a lot of missions that require more than 12 slots, up to 15 in a lot of cases.

So I think I'll just stick with the business class ones. Maybe replace one of them with First Class later if it seems to matter.

I'm getting full loads anyway, so it's all good.
