Newcomer / Intro What are you up to?

Could I also do it in an Asp Explorer or is the DBX the only way to go?
Y'know, I don't even remember what ship I was in the first time I went out there, but it wasn't a DBX and it wasn't an Asp Ex either. It might've been my T6.

In any case, the DBX is what I used when I went with my alt, because of the point defense and landing close issues (by then we all knew about that technique).

I'm sure it can be done in any ship, really, although if you take an Anaconda you'll be parking a long way from the ramp :p

We didn't have night-vision on our ships then, either, so if was dark at the site, all you had was your lowly headlights.

Geez I really sound like an old codger, now. "Why, in my day we din't have them new-fangled gadgets to h'ep us!"

There are. Some are very vague. The Down To Earth Astronomy one is the best, but I'm a beginner and very confused. The game gives nothing away....
Luckily I got it free on Epic...

Also, D2EA video has seven minutes on the count-down. Mine only starts at four!!

I'm going to give it up as a bad job. I have a poor sense of direction anyway and there is no NSEW on the SRV. I am completely lost....
The compass just shows degrees (N=0 or 360, S=180 etc.) it is above the tilt indicator bars in your HUD but to be honest I didn’t find it a lot of help at the speed I needed to do the course.

I''ll give it another go another day. Perhaps it'll be daylight like in D2EA 's video....

As has been said practice will get you there, I didn’t use videos when I did this some time ago but used the maps and guides on the Cannon site to find my way round then it was just a case of trying several (to many) times until I could do the route fast enough and not get confused too much.

Any ship you can land at the site will work but it is easier to land a smaller ship close in and one with one or more Utility hard points on the top fitted with point defence will help you against the Sentinel missile attacks.

I have a grade 5 engineered class 4 FSD that gets shared between infrequently used ships like the Mamba, Viper MKIV and FDL. Of course I always launch them from a carrier so the FSD is always available to fit. One of the benefits of having the carrier - it becomes more practical to use ships with bad jump range. Sometimes I even fly them with a 4E FSD if I don't need to leave the system the carrier is in to get to the fight.
I've only managed to amass a little over 500,000 credits so far, (plus all my assets with ships and stored modules) so I'm a long way from being able to afford a carrier. When I can get one I'd imagine we'll have had quite a few prime ministers and umpteen chancellors by then. :ROFLMAO:

Found an Argon planet with five bio-signs, looking for fungi in the mountains.

Here I'm doing Stratum in the sand dunes.

Oh, there it is.

This planet (an Ammonia world) had a polar cap with canyons kilometers deep and I found some more wig plants.

Looks like I'm ready for fresh paint.

If you can still see the decals and read the name and ID number then there is no need to repair the paint.
Unless of course you are trying to use it as sucker bait then it should be made to look as new as possible.

Did you mean 500 million?
I think it took me 6 months starting from buying a Cutter and having another billion in the bank to get carrier money. There were some lucrative haulage CGs on the way that helped. I also had a station nearby constantly give mining boom mission at 25 to 50 million for commodities I coul buy.

I've made more in the first 15 minutes of exploration today than I made all day long yesterday.

I just started playing this game in April of this year.

I just bought my fleet carrier a week ago.
I started playing in 2015.

That said, credits were a little harder to come by back then. Also was absent for seven years and left my Cobra MkIII floating in space and it was still there when I came back a few months ago!

I've had to relearn everything I forgot. Also learn all the stuff that the devs have added since and am still learning now, especially re Odyssey.
