Newcomer / Intro What are you up to?

LOADS of Geological signals in SKAUDAO ID-E, that's the second planet with 25+ of them. Gonna take a break and farm materials.

As good day work as says Celeste... a 12 planets system FSS scanned all planets L3 scanned. 8+ million worth of data sold, good start.

It is confusing at first, but the Guardian FSD is so good I'd say don't give up just yet. The Guardian shield reinforcement is also pretty good when you are more into combat.
I don't know which site you went to, but try Synuefe NL-N C23-4 B3 and use this map to help:

You need 21 units of Guardian Technology Components and there are I think 2 or 3 items to collect giving you 6 to 9 units. If you quit to desktop and log back in the pillars with green circles can have the panels shot off them again to collect more.

The above comes from here: https://forums.frontier.co.uk/threads/walkthrough-guardian-module-blueprints.438289/
and I made a few modifications myself.

Another map of the same site in case you find it easier to follow. It's in a different orientation to the above:

Huh, I have this body bookmarked. Must be the one I got my Guardian Blueprints from for the FSD booster...I used the CMDR Exigeous video:

Negative Ghostrider the pattern is full.

I thought you got the free Anaconda from selling memorial mugs?
That is not quite right. You get a voucher for a free Anaconda which is redeemable only on Raxxla.

That's what I do, I did my HOTAS and Throttle binding this way but I am unable to get this Tuning option to work, using the throttle or stick buttons, it won't move.

I'll keep trying different options..

I use one of the rotary controls on the throttle of my HOTAS, actually I need to clean up those bindings as something left over from when I used the joystick causes the tuning to drift from time to time.

Watching this old video made me realize how little I knew about scaning at the time, and that I swaped Plasma Accelerators for Seeker Missile Rack... Anyway I was further learning the skills of Combat and puting the basis of my tactics together.

I might join the Odyssey community some time next week, I secured the funds for a PC upgrade as well, including VR headset, although I was told Elite Dangerous Odysseys doesn't support VR, my other faavorite game (DCS) does and I haven't played it since my G2 packed up...

I've been reading about ways to increase combat rank that may be better than bounty hunting at a compromised nav beacon. It can get repetitive doing this.
Outside of Thargoid Scout hunting, the 'meta' seems to be, find an Anarchy system in Outbreak and head for a checkpoint POI. All ships are lawless and you will get a good supply of Elite Eagles to pop. That can give you 6% per hour rank increased.
From a role playing perspective, killing possibly innocent ships in a lawless system doesn't sit well with me. It also sounds like a grind.
I took a threat 8 wing pirate assassination mission, which is tough but doable and fun in my Corvette. I noticed I got a 2% rank increase for doing it and it look under 15 minutes from leaving and then returning to the station. I think I might try and find more of these to get my combat rank up.

Any other ideas for fun ways to increase combat rank at a reasonable pace without repetitive grind or morally questionable techniques welcome.
Defending a megaship is something I've not done in a while, but I cannot remember the rank of the enemy ships.

Thargiods are coming. So I will probably be doing AX combat again soon when the action is in the bubble.

Hmmm, complete 10 surface CZs.

Is that means the no. of dropship taken???
I was looking at that earlier in the week. I think it means win 10 surface CZs. I've done one or two low intensity ever, and I went into those mainly to try and salvage stuff while people were fighting. Didn't work out that well, but somehow my side won despite my low level of participation.
Plenty of experts here on Odyssey ground missions :)

I actually got desperate and tried that.
  1. It doesn't work.
  2. It is boring as hell.

They've even nerfed that pretty badly. Combat rank is, by far, the hardest thing to level up. After over 2,000 bounties of all sorts I'm still stuck at Master.

Definitely giving Anarchy Outbreak systems a miss then. It does sound dull.
I'm 34% into dangerous and it has been a long time since I got that promotion. But then combat always seems to be secondary to exploring etc.
I quite enjoy stacking wing pirate massacre missions, but not checked to see how fast combat rank goes up with those. The enemies are not that high ranking, so I doubt its that great for combat rank.

I've done the same thing. I'll make some very good money. I'll stack up about 12 to 15 of them and head out, take a couple hours to do them all and make 40 to 60 million credits, but the XP goes nowhere at all.

All the other fields of endeavor are based on money value. Combat is the only one that isn't that I'm aware of. That's why it's a grind of Biblical proportions.

You could make a small missile barge and shoot scavs from above. That also adds to combat rank.

Not very sporting but, hey, it's just scavs. When they growl "I won't go down so easily!" you can show them the error of that statement.

Their corpse will magically disappear when you land though so there's bounty to be had there.

Ah, so that explains why this exists then...

That sounds like a good one to include. I got my Viper MKIV set up better last week with 2 x small dumb fire missiles launchers grade 4 high capacity. I can collect a few Odyssey mats at the sites while I'm there. Crashed satellites etc.
