Newcomer / Intro What are you up to?

Hmm - to me, your face in your Inara signature is the same as your avatar on these boards.
Hashtag meetoo.
That is good news.
You need to close all copy's of IE or whatever browser you use and reopen them, I can see a picture of what I assume you put there (green skin, purple hair).
Green skin? I suppose you mean the suit.
Would be funny, though, as back when I created my first STO char, she also got green skin, by accident.
When you read this post, press CTRL-F5 on your keyboard which will force the browser to reload all images for this page and you should then see your up to date image. You have the older version of the image cached in your browser and I think it takes about a month for it to expire and reload it unless you force it to reload like this.
Sadly, one can only hit the "like" button once... Thanks a lot, you saved me from a terrible fate.

I just closed and reopened all my browsers and your avatar picture has green skin (she Hulk?), pink lips and purple hair, unless there's something wrong with my computer.
I can not really depend on my eyes in this case, as they often have slight difficulties to discern green and reddish colours...
Although, the pink lips and purple hair are visible for me, too. Is it even possible to create green skin? If so, this would not be the first time this happened to me... Even the hair colour is similar...

First discovery on another terraformable water world. If I carry on like this I'll be able to pay off the UK's 50 billion quid deficit in no time. :p

It looks very green to me. It’s not a color I’ve seen in a Holo-me before, quite original.

Taking a break from wanton destruction with my alt account who is the cloak and dagger sort.
His main ship is the Krait Phantom build for special operations missions and assassination missions. Basically any mission than earns good influence rewards.
The extra speed and agility of the Phantom built this way (instead of as an explorer) over the regular Krait is a joy.
I've decided it needs to be more stealthy, so have swapped out the 6A power plant with grade 1 overcharge and thermal spread for a 7A grade 5 low emissions and unfortunately I had to go with monstered experimental effect to get the required power.
EDSY says 16% cruising heat, so hopefully I can dock with illegal black boxes and such without needing a heatsink to stop scans. I'm also hoping I can fire a full volley from the two packhoud missile launchers without overheating. Can I break an opponent's target lock more of the time? The real bonus would be if it can match the Dolphins ability to charge the FSD and fuel scoop in the red zone by a star at the same time. Not sure about the last one. To be tested....

I submitted to an interdiction and lets loose with all the packhounds on the offending pirate. Ship still cooked, even with pre-cooling from thermal vent beam lasers.
I can get away with fuel scooping for a short time in the stars red zone.

I've never used, nor even looked into, packhounds. Are they worth having?

I think they are worth having and use 1 or 2 of them on all my alt accounts ships with medium hard points that don't need to engage in long fights like High Intensity Conflict Zones. Even with G5 high capacity the ammo tends to run out, although it lasts well enough for low intensity conflict zones and most of the way through a medium.
They are immune to point defence, do a lot of damage and look super pretty. They are a lot of fun which is all the reason you need to get them 😁
Great for knocking out thrusters if you have reason to immobilise ships, even large ships.

I tried mining in a ring today and there was something that confused me.
I had scanned the system a few days ago, including the rings. It showed a few hotspots.
Today, I went there and did not find any of the hotspots. Are these hotspots exclusively for explosive mining?
16 Tons only has some mining lasers and a set of abrasion blasters.

Besides this, I had a pirate problem. When I entered the ring, I was completely alone. Noone on the radar, noone moving around, even after waiting some time.
Then I started mining, collected some gold in the process - that rock I had chosen had quite a bit of it.
Then, after I had been mining for some minutes, someone dropped in on me, scanned me and started shooting. So I ran, leaving uncollected goods and limpets behind...
Well, at least I had my expenses covered and some extra cash from those 8 tons of gold...
But I guess for the time being, I will be asteroid belt mining in inhabited areas with reliable police forces...

Did they show up on your nav panel? If not, rescan. There's also an intermittent bug where the orange blob goes awol but the hotspot is really still there. A relog may help here.

...

Did you have a Detailed Surface Scanner Fitted? They won't show if you don't have one, even if you mapped it previously. ¯\(ツ)

Nothing. Did not relog, though.

No, the DSS is on the Star Moth. But good to know for future mining builds.
