What besides combat (PVE) is the new Python MKII good for?

I swap shield size and scoop size depending on the use case. Added a class 2 fuel tank as well.

Fuel consumption/capacity is a minor drawback.

I can understand why Frontier wanted to limit it; it would be too powerful if you had a lot more cargo capacity and filled it with shield banks or hull/module reinforcements.
However, they could have avoided this issue by providing some cargo space that could only have been used for cargo or passenger units.

If anything, I'm surprised it doesn't have some token military slots that would be of dubious utility on a shield focused vessel with power constraints.

When it comes to PvP combat, hybrids are a niche... hull tanks are even more niche (1v1s may be), but for organics this P2 is a cheap and wholesome shield tank DPS deliver.

So big prismo, all boosters, 4 pacifiers (C2 are a bonus slot for feedback rail/grom bomb/scramble pulse) and GSRPs to stack even more MJs.

The biggest surprise for me was the small distributor. The Python and it's Krait knock-offs all have class 7 PDs; even the Phantom, which can barely leverage it when using the most distro heavy weapons it can mount.

This is it's combat saving grace, from a balance perspective. The lack of optional internals really doesn't matter, but I am glad that it doesn't just totally dominate all combat scenarios by having a big ship PD that would make six shooter PA loadouts ubiquitous.

Handy when I'm travelling to engineers, but also if I take part in a community goal that's some distance away.
Maybe a class 2 would be sufficient - it's early days as I only got mine last night.
Mmmh, I guess I'd just use my 60Ly DBX taxi and then xfer it... or if it's not a core module, fit the things i want to engineer to a travel ship with appropriate mounts.

I have added a fuel scoop to one of my SCOmba (Mamba with SCO) because fuel is quickly depleted if it has to be used several times to tail opponents 🤯
Wouldn't it be faster to just SCO to the nearest dock you're not wanted at and refuel there (unless ofc, the system is exclusively controlled by the faction you're wanted by)? Or again... extra fuel tank? Just a C3 would double your capacity.

May be I'll change it in the future, but atm C1 scoop is used because of the C2/C3 FSD interdictors with different engineering I had in the storage... (+range on SC agile ships seems to be better counter for SCO-equipped targets).

I'm trying the APAs too, but no permaboost means it's harder to hold the trail to deliver volleys... I mean, Krait works much better with APAs on a first glance.

I used it for exobiology last night. It is hard to land close to matter on the surface sometimes and taking a Scorpion out on very rough terrain gets old fast lol. But it is doable, but I am going to find a different purpose for it.

After testing a bit, I'm not even sure the P2 is better at PVE combat than the Krait, at least not solo PVE. An SLF gives the player access to pack tactics without a wingmate, and the utility of that is even more appreciable when flying the P2.

Additionally, the shields feel different because of the lacking optionals. In the Krait I can ram and be pretty careless, the P2 requires careful management of shields. Maybe I configured my boosters badly and stacked too much thermal resist.

I think the P2's role is in a wing doing PVP, which I think it was designed for, so can't complain about it.

First robbery done!

Hauler was robbed, but tried with bravery to defend the cargo... one of the bravest haulers we have met out there, much better than higher ranks and better ships who decide to clog or run immediately. No, CMDR OHHOWSAD defended her/his cargo to the last gram of hull with heroism, notwithstanding the horde of hatch breakers launched at her/him!

Unfortunately a pirate's life depends on the cargo... that's why it was necessary to use some force in that occasion.

That's a specific playstyle that not everyone does. I never grind rescue, salvage or surface missions for BGS or whatever, I take up a few when they offer engineering material rewards or just for fun. Never used more than 16 tons of cargo space while doing these. When I pick up more than 3 I usually do them over a few days period, returning to port and doing some other stuff in between. No rush.
So less a Mission Runner and more of a Mission Ambler

Yesterday there was a big organic multi-wing pewpew in Shin, with a lot of FDLs and Py2's.

The Py2 is a pretty big target with relatively negligible hull, it can die hilariously quickly after shield drop. Literally a couple of seconds in big instances. :)
