What did you do in Planet Zoo today?

I remember us saying that we also should share the little things, because it can be rather overwhelming to only see or hear about the big projects.

So... yesterday I build a toilet in Unity and today I currently do some detail work on the pathing of Wingburg. Small progress is still progress, right? To all of you who, like me, have too much work at the moment or can not play much due to health reasons or any other issues: Hang in there! Small things DO count.
Developers: let's create the best game to build zoos ever!

Players: let's build a toilet!

(Please take this joke as an appreciation of the creativity of people)

The top of the hill is finished.

People making the climb. Love how the rocks really give this a mountain vibe.

The hilltop food court, and people enjoying the view in the back (I put a vista point back there to lure people in, and it works!)

The panorama viewpoint behind the hilltop food court. This spot is really way up high.

Next up... Um. I guess I should do the finishing up on the tropical area and the entrance area before I continue :p Otherwise that stuff will be left for the end. After that: the antelope habitat on the other side of the tunnel. The path will loop back down towards the cassowary habitat and the land of giants food plaza.
So I didn't finish up the tropical and entrance area yet, and built the antelope habitat instead!

Antelope habitat in the back. It is giant, it is idiot big. But I loved building it!

Habitat overview.

hilltop view from the panorama spot behind the food court. This habitat hosts 7 male wildebeest, 5 male springboks, 5 female Thomson gazelles, 1 male and 4 female sable antelopes, and 1 male and 2 female nyalas. I didn't want my zoo to have a baby explosion, so only the nyalas and sable antelopes get to breed. \

Back of the habitat, which is bushy and has parasols to provide resting areas.

The oasis. Quite proud how this came out!

Bushes obscure the view to the resting areas to the left. The front of the habitat is to the right, which is more plains-y instead of bushy.

Near the front of the habitat.

Conclusion: Every zoo could do with a mixed species antelope habitat! ❤️

Next up is... I don't really know yet. I'll figure it out next time :)

"New Zealand Getaway Zoo". My main challenges will be:
  • Building elephant habitats (never built for them before) and obtaining the elephant reward (breeding both species in one zoo).
  • Building an elephant boat ride (never done a boat ride before).
  • Deciding on zoo sections and how to make use of the terrain.
    • entrance area - minor detailing left
    • tropical area - almost finished
    • land of giants
    • hilltop area - needs dressing up and more guest facilities
  • Multiple viewing angles from all around the zoo.
  • Cool panoramashots.
  • A hilly trail that looks down over the zoo, making a beautiful view from both the top and the bottom of the zoo.

Yes for sure! Coincidentally i also worked on toilet shells for the various parts of Jamestown Zoo last night. Next up will be educational speakers and benches and then i think my guest needs will all be set for a bit. Just in time for new content too I think!

Sir, im very pleased with those panorama shots. Keep them coming! Your doing a great job!

I am so very slowly little by little to build the half-timbered houses.

When I have enough, then they will be placed in my zoo, but for now it is prefabricated in sandbox mode.

The small keeper's hut, complete with supply room.

The small workshop, I also put some stuff under a protective roof.

Unfortunately, there are no tools. I hope that with time still different Deko stuff like broom, shovel and tools come into play.20211130185618_1.jpg

@Dienstbier Love the idea of adding an open room next to the keeper hut.
I'm very happy that you like the idea.
Thank you, I like something like that very much. empty rooms are a horror for me and I love to look what is hidden because so everything.

I only wish I could build as well and as fast as others.

With me, the whole thing always takes forever and the result ... hmmm
So I must not look at other buildings there, I could be envious. Where I try me then also one or the other abzugucken.

Unfortunately, I just do not want everything from the workshop.

The best way to improve, in my opinion. I gave myself some slack with climbin sturctures, as I hate them. But other than that; I build 98% of my stuff myself, even if it takes longer and even if it doesn't look that perfect. We will get there. This game is a marathon, not a sprint. It takes time to get better, to think outside the box and to reach the next level. I'm pretty sure you are already better than when you started. Plus, I remember your dragon, and you are AWESOME with terraforming and I can't even do a realistic elevation :D So don't be too hard on yourself.

Thanks, the dragon was an exception.
The environment of the I never got right so far.
I'm always very self-critical, I know what I want only I can not implement it so and other points I have zero plan as I what should even design...

I did not quite succeed with the dragon, but I would probably not make a second time, was really very very much work. I'm so glad that the dragon now works as a blueprint, because I'm so grateful to frontier that the blueprints have improved and revised to this end. :D

Meanwhile, I've seen others where I think to myself, yes... so it probably would have looked better, but no matter.

You're absolutely right when you say it's a marathon. A very very tedious one.

Same, I have a ton of workshop subscriptions, but i still find myself not using them often. There's maybe a handful I do use regularly, and have maybe a half dozen things in my current franchise from the Workshop (including the absolutely amazing Bald Eagle statue "soaring" over my north american food court.)

I continued working on the Asian section of Zarpa with a new habitat and a nice square which integrates the viewing area of the shelter for babirusas and Komodo dragons:

On one side of the square, there's a sun bear habitat. You can see the bears from inside the building or from the train:

That is actually pretty clever! Would love to see how you use the ruler when building.

Well, I just use Google Earth tools to measure a building/enclosure/area which I like in real life
Then I open my game and use the ruler (every "colour step" is 1m, blue means 5m) to portray the measurements very easily
And finally, I struggle for the next too many hours fighting against the paths and terrain systems and choosing the right pieces from the various menus, until I surrender and go to sleep 🙃

This made me laugh😁. It does feel like struggling, trying to make everything work and still look good. My fight right now is trying to make a hyena enclosure parthly underground in a mine. Every step was just frustrating: make a room underground, lay paths so guests can view the hyena's in their cave, make a Nice tunnel for the hyena's to go outside, and then the awful placing of fences😩. And to make it worse i also added a train track.🤯
