What did you do in Planet Zoo today?

I've started expanding my Wild Americas zoo. The first new addition is a butterfly house!

Planning out my first new zoo in a year, meant to be a medium-sized children's zoo-ish park based on similar places in the Northeastern United States. I have a vague idea of what kinds of animals I want in it (mostly smaller/more common-in-captivity, with just a few big ABC species, probably giraffes and rhinos in an Africa section and one or two big cat species) but I'm not quite sure how to organize them besides the below. Definitely also saving an area for whenever a domestics/petting zoo pack drops.

I will never be happy with my raccoon habitats, as those tiny animals always seem to get lost in them - however, I do like this one better than the last. Besides a new raccoon habitat I also an adjacent staff building and keeper hut and did some decoration of the surroundings.

That looks very cool.
If making the habitat too big is tough, I have a saved blueprint for a simple, kinda low budget looking building that's perfect for smaller, climbing animals like raccoons and lemurs. If y'all want I can upload it this weekend

Very kind of you. Personally I don't use habitat blueprints, though. As crappy as I build, when I use other peoples habitats I immediately estrange from my own zoos. :D

I so get that. I have that issue with all blueprints, really; they're never in "my" style. I will use the odd one (shade structures, fake trees, things I don't have the patience to make myself) but never building shells or habitats.

I finally had some time to play this week for the first time since Twilight got released. I already planned to make some kind of butterfly garden based on the Antwerp zoo, next to my primate house which is also based on that. With the Grassland pack now released, I decided to turn it into a jungle dome with some inspiration from the Mangrove in Burgers' Zoo and Rotterdam Zoo.

After a couple unexpected workshifts I finally had another free day to sit down and work on my new zoo again. Started off by making some simple roadside signs, including wildlife crossing signs and a pair of entrance signs for the zoo itself.

Then it was finally time to stop procrastinating on it and actually do the entrance. Ended up with something simple but neat, which fits the natural aesthetic of the zoo quite well. Might do a few tweaks to it in the future but it works for now.

Looking forward to finally being able to build my first habitat (capybaras!) after already spending almost 10 hours working on this zoo.

I use one custom fence (pictured in front of my skunk habitat) and other then that only climbing structures from time to time. Hate to build them. Once in a blue moon I use a Frontier Böueprint for toilets, but usually that's the point again where I drop the zoo 😅 Blueprints are jinxed.

@KönigDerKaffeebohnen Thanks for the compliment. :) Have to say I'm still not happy with the shelter, so I might redo that.

Beautiful work lateley, everyone!

Strinygbark Zoo has its first animals! Built an adjacent pair of habitats, a nice capybara enclosure and an exceedingly simple (but realistic) spectacled caiman exhibit. Next I'll add capuchins just past the caimans and maned wolves next to the capybara, and then the little South America-themed entrance area of the zoo will be done.

EDIT: Made some minor changes to the caiman habitat (including the addition of a lamp):
