What did you do in Planet Zoo today?

I love looking at all the creations. I haven't been feeling particularly creative for a couple of weeks, possibly due to my bronchitis and tiredness. I wish I could get some inspiration to build something.

I was going to try and build Dudley Zoo (in the UK) as I took loads of photos when I visited there in September but it's certainly not the prettiest of zoos lol.

Sometimes the not so good looking zoos are easier to recreate, that's what I did intially with some basic roadside zoo recreations without much attention to details since there was none

I've decided to play a lot over the holidays :giggle:
I hope to accomplish a little bit that is worth showing.
Yesterday I started dividing up the zoo a bit, but didn't have much time, still have to take my piggy to the dentist.

@Fini You have a pet pig? Or are you a farmer? I hope they get better soon.

Today I didn't really play as such, but was making an animal spreadsheet. I have decided that I would like to open enough franchise zoos so that I can place every single type of animal in one zoo or another. I reckon I would need about 12 zoos in all, some with less animals in and some with more.

Aww, no. I hope he/she is ok. O hate the dentist myself, but I'm sure that your little guy/gal is well behaved and will get a sugar free, alfalfa lollipop
Yes, she is fine, unfortunately it is vital for her and only expensive for me. But without straightening her teeth, she would eventually starve to death.
But she is a good girl and is doing quite well.

Like Mr. Quell is mentioned, its a guinea pig 🐹
I hope Frontier adds Guinea pigs, they are so sweet ❤️
Me too, but i prefer the wild version.

the buffalo grass is a real game changer for realistic coverage for even my lemur habitats, move out drinn grass - its buffalo's turn now. Red ruffed lemurs have now got a nice grassy habitat in the madagascar section of my african area

for those wondering why i have a near 13metre tall barrier , its san diegos modern method of a hanging barrier connected to a mesh canopy. Annoying as it is, the climb barrier guards have to be there to force the lemurs to not climb over my mesh

No pics, I'm sorry. But I didn't do anything anyways...

Ok, so, I decided not to restart franchise, but to destroy close my zoos and "restart" that way.

Now, I'm in a bit of a pickle. You see, I am rebuilding Longview Zoo, but I don't know where to start. I already have a simple path layout that leads into 2 directions and an open space.

I already have 2 zones I'm gonna do:

North America
  • The Swamps
    • American alligator
    • American beaver
    • Raccoon
  • Piney Woods
    • Nine-banded armadillo
    • Red fox
    • Striped skunk
South America
  • Las Pampas
    • Capybara
    • Giant anteater
    • Maned wolf
  • Amazon Adventure
    • Colombian white-faced capuchin
    • Giant otter
    • Jaguar
    • Spectacled caiman
  • Name Redacted Butterfly House
    • Cloudless sulphur
    • Melaneus blue morpho
    • Monarch butterfly
My question is: what should be at the entrance? This is gonna be a low-mid budget zoo in the temperate biome. So, should I put a single species habitat at the front? Or a cafe? A gift shop? Reptile house? Bug house? What do y'all suggest?

Low budget entrance? I heard polar bears are a great entrance animal

🤣 Yeah I would actually look at possibly a reptile house or a flamingo pool

Have racoons as the entrance to every zone

Average American Zoo , either that or terrorising peafowl that chase people
I like how the 3 biggest jokesters here (Captain Callum, KönigDerKaffeebohnen, and DarthQuell) all start with the "Kuh" sound; well, I'm DarthQuell, but most just say Quell anyways, so...

Longview Zoo is back in business.
After losing the ownership of various zoos to his rival, Mr. Quell has recently reacquired Longview Zoo due to bankruptcy of the former owner. In his attempt to rebuild the WZO, Quell has begun a complete remodel. Progress is slow, but the Ok is getting started:

You enter the zoo and are greeted by some rescued European badgers. They recently had some offspring, and this is a milestone for the zoo as it's its 1st zoo-born animal. Cute...

To the left is our local fauna project, featuring animals native to the area:

As you can see, it splits off into 2 directions. The left path leads to the Piney Woods, with 4 habitats and 3 species.

And a pair of leucistic red foxes

Now, work will be done to construct The Swamps, which will feature the following:
  • American alligators
  • American bullfrogs
  • Diamondback terrapins
  • North American beavers
  • Raccoons

We will also be building a little food court for our guests to satisfy their hunger.

Thank you for reading this very special edition of Zoo News magazine. We ask that you please, donate anything you can to our cause to bring this zoo back from extinction...

Double post, but y'all don't care, so...

So, I'm starting a new zoo, y'all. Sorta. I want Longview Zoo to be low budget, relatively, and that's what the local fauna will be representing. But, I don't want just locals so imma do some South animals, too.

I know, I know, the zoo isn't much to look at. There's no personality, but I'm getting there. What do y'all suggest? Anything I can do to improve?

@KönigDerKaffeebohnen, I hope you can appreciate my lame attempts at custom fences. With the badgers, I used the chain link pieces with Australia logs.
For the Piney Woods fences, I used logs and just placed mesh pieces, too
