What did you do in Planet Zoo today?

Did a bit of work with my gorillas and even managed to build a nice climbing frame, but latly my performance really sucks making it pretty unfun to play the game. Hopefully cleaning my pc will do the trick.

It aint much but if i slowly make progress each time i play after some time my zoo will also look great, eventhough it isnt as immediatly gratifiyng. + Now that i startet the wall that seperates both enclosures i hopefully will soon be able to finish of the okapis, which i am quite excited for ^^
I might have not been able to keep my hands away eventhough it lagged alot so my gorillas and a bit of the okapis got some more decorating in. Propaply the most grasses over bushes enclosure so far, but hey i really start to get good with the grasses so my larger openungulate enclosures hopefully will soon be revisited!

You know, Konig, sometimes what I do when I'm struggling in PZ for inspiration and ideas, I just do something that has nothing to do with Planet Zoo, Zoo Tycoon, or zoos in general.
Ironically, some of my inspiration comes from, like, cartoons and/or science fiction; so, whatever your other interests are, maybe those will somehow give you the next big idea for your zoo/creative process

That actually makes me feel bad for feeling annoyed at my laggy performance with my huge zoo builds. I was thinking surely the game can handle 50 habitat zoos that take up 80 percent of the map but then there is always people who struggle with relatively small zoos. Anyways the gorilla habitat is looking pretty good and I'll be another person to say that climbing frame looks great , even I don't actually build climbing frames I grab them all from the workshop 😅

Back to it again, i finished of the okapi enclosure. Nothing much just finished the fencing and added some more enritchment and decoration, but the thing really making it much more pretty then last time is the gorilla habitat behind it. Im really happy with how both habitats enhance each other.
First a starting shot from the otter side.

A second one with a better view of the gorillas. Behind them theres also a glimps of the future elephant yard and the space inbetween will have more of the lion enclosure, so most likly this view will only get better as time moves on.

And a second one from the other side with quite the nice look into the gorilla habitat.

Also if you ask yourself "But Konig, there are no animals in here!" its because my animals do the most zoo animal thing they can do and hang out in the back of their exhibit most of the time. My retreat really is appreciated by them, even more so if it would be a franchise zoo with lots of ugly loud guests.

From the gorilla side its less in your face but still a very nice back drop.

And lastly, the climbing frame looks really cool from many angles all over my zoo, which is really nice. Might actually the first thing ill upload to the workshop as im really happy with it and you guys seemed to like it aswell.

Well actually, was going to ask if you would consider uploading the climbing frame to the workshop 😊. It looks so realistic! The animal enclosures look really nice! Keep up the good work!

Well howdy y'all. Welcome to another update to the World Zoo Organization. Lots of progress here at Rancho La Golondrina, our little croc farm that turned into a little zoo. Let's begin the tour, y'all...

1.jpg

Here's an overview of our progress so far restoring this little piece...

2.jpg

You walk in our (unfinished) entrance to be greeted by:

3.jpg
4.jpg

Our lemurs. These fun lovers were here when we acquired the zoo, but their old enclosure was c a concrete pit. We heavily altered it for them, giving them far more space, some plants to hide in, climbing structures, and a more natural look for their comfort...
Moving to the left, we find:

5.jpg

Our spectacled caiman pool. These crocs were inhumanely kept in a concrete pool and bred to be killed for their leather. How cruel. We upgraded their old enclosure to look more natural and a much more comfortable pool...
And right across from the caimans is:

La Case de Reptiles de las Maya (Tha Mayan Reptile House)...
More pics in the following update...

(Y'all, my building exteriors are ugly, but interiors are so much better. Suggestions to make this look nicer on the outside?)

Here is the interior of the building:

You walk in...

To the right is our amphibian room:

The amphibian room, with RETFs on the left, bullfrogs to the right, and dead center: axolotls...
10.jpg

After exiting the amphibian room and going right, following the path, you come to our public Cuvier's caiman enclosure...

Here's a behind the scenes tour. Shhh...

13.jpg

The interior of the caiman habitat...

And, BTS, we have 2 enclosures:

Caiman nursery, where the infants are kept...
15.jpg

Caiman breeding enclosure for another pair of adults. This enclosure is designed for maximum privacy and comfort to breed these caimans.

Our caimans were rescued as they were illegally traded as pets worldwide

Exiting from the BTS area, we keep following the path. There's our snake room. Let's have a look:

In the room, we have boa constrictors...

And yellow anacondas...

Exiting the snake room, right next door is the iguana room:

And here is a nice effect. Too bad Carl photobombed us...

The old smuggling center...

Yes, I've been thinking about that a couple of times with my own buildings. But the thing is that architects don't design buildings thinking on how they look from the air, so the roofs are practical and ugly, while the beauty is in the facades, because that's what people can see from the ground.
However, looking at your building, maybe some glass ceiling here and there would improve not only the look from outside, but also the indoor enclosures welfare, as the animals could have some natural light.

BTW, I like that roof being used as a ramp for the smuggling center pools... Do you know if crocs could get out of the water through them? Are they traversable area?

Thanks. I got the inspiration from @zoosaurus, actually, in her gharial house video...

I had to experiment with the pieces and terraforming. As it's set up now, they can, but there's barely any space (which was the point)
Also, guests kept crossing the kerbs I placed, so to prevent them from going there I had to take the gates off so that they technically aren't habitats.

About the building, imma have to figure out how to do the glass roof sections, because you're right it's too dark, but I also want it to look like ancient ruins. Time to experiment later this evening

I got two moose today! I love them, I've never had moose before so I have enjoyed watching them in their habitat. They were bigger than I expected and would not fit in a 4m shelter so I had to build it bigger but I quite like the result and I absolutely adore this shot:

Their shelter is shown in this one (now 5m high instead of 4 but with added height to the roof):

Maybe I shouldn't have given them toys, it kind of spoils the natural effect lol.
