What did you do in Planet Zoo today?

Today I redid my entire entrance area:

@Fini: Looks great, both the remade entrance and the rabbit habitat, I love the little huts.

Unfortunately I can't show something at the moment. I'm having a total motivation crisis and haven't really played in 7 weeks. The thing is I have quite some free time at the moment and my plan was to build a lot but for some reason, I can't. Do you have any tips how to find any building motivation again?😅

Thanks! I also think the little huts are very cute :)
Too bad the entrance has to be so huge because of the hitbox.
Have you noticed my little rabbits disguised as prairie dogs?

Difficult to give general advice.
I never have that much time to play anyway, because I always have something to do in RL.
Sundays are always my hangout day, I play most of the time, but sometimes I don't.
During the week I like to think about all the nice things I could build on Sundays.
I actually think the most important thing is that you don't try to force yourself to play. First of all, nothing good ever comes out of it anyway and 2nd it's really crappy for the motivation if you turn off the game with a negative feeling.

Yeah, I've noticed the bunny prairie dogs :D
Thanks for the words, I hope the next dlc brings back some motivation. Maybe I'll take a look into Biopark again and look for something smaller unfinished thing that I can finally finish.

For me building motivation comes with a good idea. So I would suggest looking for inspiration on the internet. Also it can help to just get in the game and start. Yesterday I tried out a hippo enclosure with the thought it would probably look like crap and I would go back to a previous save. But my experiment became a nice addition to my zoo. So I now want to finish it.

I'm back in business! After watching some Planet Zoo related videos and just looking at my Biopark Luxemburg for a bit, I've finally found some motivation and ideas again. The last time I've built in this zoo was even longer ago, I guess last summer!
I decided to go back to the roots and redo my very first Planet Zoo habitats - for the African elephants and the wild dogs. I didn't like the look of these anymore and my building skills improved a lot since then, also we got so many nice new pieces since I built this.
Today I've started with demolishing the bull area and the wild dog habitat and rebuilding the bull elephant habitat.

That was probably such a hard work. Conical shapes are difficult to build.
Actually more tedious than difficult once I figured out the exact angle of the brick pillars, near 3 hours of rotating groups for every 4 metres plus another set of group rotating for the brown support braces

I don't have photos but I added the ice and snow to my second ever polar bear exhibit, built a whole king penguin habitat except I forgot to add foliage, because I got distracted and decided to build a snowy mountainside and peak for some dall sheep to climb, and I also got frustrated with the gondola ride trying to build it so I opened my ancient Egypt inspired zoo build and built a crocodile temple

@QueenCinna please do come back with pics! I love to see everyone's builds. I haven't been here in a few weeks I think - I was a traitor, playing another game haha. But I'm very excited about the new update and did a little work on Shire Zoo. Here is the overall pic so far:

The lower central area were the parts taken from my Mudley Zoo sandbox, but this franchise is doing pretty well now and has had lots of additions and is currently at $200K.

I added Japanese Macaque tonight as I wanted a walk-through habitat but my build was too rushed so I will probably re-do it. I have a nasty habit of buying the animals first and then feeling like I need to make their habitats quickly and don't do a good job.

Made a bit progress.
Have built a "castle" where golden eagles and eagle owls live and a large enclosure for a herd of bactrian camels (which I had to hide because I have the remaster mod in it) The new plaza is also making good progress and I'm very happy with it, I like it a lot better than the old layout.

I continued working on the renovation of the elephant and wild dog area.
I've added a tunnel between the elephant and the wild dog habitat which gives a very unusual view on the elephants and the wild dogs. The cool thing is that the wild dogs are able to access the area above the tunnel and can watch the elephants from there (I hope it actually works, I haven't tested it yet with animals).

I also started to change the elephant house and the first thing I did was expanding the visitor area which was way to small before. The meerkats which haven't got any spot in my zoo yet, also got a small indoor enclosure inside the building and an adjacent outdoor habitat.

Not sure yet if I keep the glass roof or build a new one. I still kinda like the roof even after 2 years and it was quite difficult to create it but on the other hand many of the glass triangles are not perfectly alligned and this bothers me😅

Overview of the area so far:

I haven't played much because of the not-so-new-anymore puppies (we'll have had them 7 months this next week!) , but I finally finished my first Caracal habitat today. Honestly as much as I post I haven't played much at all the last few months. I know I am spending more time on the forums than in the game. Not that I don't love it anymore, the pups just take a lot of time and attention.

I've been working on something a little wacky in the hope that we'd get something fun and colourful in the next pack, and I'm going to consider the Red River Hog as close enough so I'm happily building something for it.

The theme of this zoo, Rainbow Ridge, is 'Unrealism', so I'm going bold with as many eye-burning colours as possible. I don't have any particular Final Species Roster in mind for it, just things that I feel like in the moment, with maybe a lean towards animals with bold markings. Each habitat/building gets its own colour theme, and I'm having tonnes of fun so far! I want to play around more with the shapes of buildings and using strange angles everywhere. It's chaotic! But that's the goal!

Here's a little of what I'm doing!

This is my 'Pink' house, featuring a few African animals; meerkats, some exhibits, Aldabra giant tortoises, and Nile monitors (hoping that they get to dive with the new update!) The colours here are this rich hot pink, a bright lavender purple, cyan and a touch of radioactive green!

I don't think I took any pictures of it specifically, but the inside of the Pink House also has this transition on the ceiling from the pink to being covered in plants! I'm planning to put more Jungle Stuff out on the other side where you head out that way so it's like you're being led into that area.

Looking at some of these screenshots is good, because I actually think I might go back and add more illumination in a few places so that you can like, see all the vibrant colours even in the shade of the building.
20230326000524_1.jpg

Something I've been doing for a while now in various zoos is using these hanging lights as heat lamps in my reptile enclosures. Also I just like how the planted bit transitions here.

Outside view of the Nile monitors! One of the angles into the water.

And for a change of palette, my WIP red river hog habitat! I'm going for a variety of greens, mostly blue-toned greens, with a couple pops of orange here and there to complement the RRHs themselves. Hopefully they should stand out against the background here quite nicely. I still need to decide on how much space I want to give them at the top, and if I want another viewing point over on the right-hand side or if there'll be the boundary to another enclosure. There'll be a little indoor area over to the left somewhere behind the lookout point.

I'd like to mix them with something that climbs, and I'm probably leaning toward the mandrill for that colourful face!
20230326000221_1.jpg

I've started planning a few guest facilities, but the only one I've gotten to so far is the Gulpee Soda station. This one's near the RRHs so I gave it the same green + orange palette, just with more orange than green. I'd actually forgotten that the Soda theming itself is already orange and green, so that ended up working perfectly and I'm very happy about it.
Something I realised we're missing while making this is ungridded triangle wall pieces, or at the very least ones that go upside down! Those would have been usefull here, haha.
20230326000154_1.jpg

Finally, I figured I should show off the Rainbow Ridge entrance garden and the peacocks roaming around in there!

20230326000824_1.jpg

So far I intend to expand the African area to a plains zebra + blue wildebeest mix, maybe with the sable antelope in there as well. Possibly giraffes? Ostriches? It'll depend on the vibes I get when I build.
Black and white ruffed lemur + bongo and one of the other two lemurs + okapi. Then maybe the final lemur and the Nile lechwe? I do enjoy my ungulate + arboreal mixes!
Then I want to build up on the extra decor & the guest facilities. I'll leave gaps for anything new that pops up in future DLCs, especially if we get any fun new birds. I looove the fossa but I'm not sure I want to stick one in Rainbow Ridge.

I want flamingos in here somewhere but I'm not 100% sure I'll put them in the Africa area yet.

I've picked out some vague ideas for a general Asia area, but I'll focus more on that once I've finished the Africa zone.

I think this is the most excited I've been for a zoo idea ever, so I'm looking forward to working some more on this.

This is my first time posting my work in here forum...
Completed the cheetah exhibit recently, I'm really pleased with how it looks. My zoo is based on british zoos,
so I took inspirations from many different british zoos. Loving my zoo so far, looking forward to build more
exhibits and complete it! (I don't mind to show the rest of my zoo if you like!)
