What did you do in Planet Zoo today?

Oceania section got spruced up a bit more today. Firstly, I made the entrance and exit to the wallaby walkthrough. I think I did a good job considering working around those huge gates is annoying.

Also took advice from others on this thread and changed the fencing of the Tasmanian devil enclosure. Viewing is much better now.

I added some of the more themed props to the penguin enclosure, I don't tend to use these but I thought they fit (the big ship was already there anyway).

And finally I built a little hut to fill up some dead space, to be honest I'm not too happy with how it looks so any suggestions would be nice... It does have some death adders inside, I wanted to add them inside the nocturnal house but with the hitboxes in this game it proved too much of a struggle.

Overall, the Oceania section is mostly done. Just some finishing touches and one more habitat to go now.

I started work on an Africa section...

about three times. Then I gave up. I have a solid idea in mind, but I haven't played in so long that executing it is proving challenging. My plan is to recreate the two main savannah habitats at Auckland Zoo; one contains giraffes, zebras, and ostriches and the other white rhinos, nyala, and waterbuck. In-game, I'm planning on doing giraffes/zebras/ostriches/nyala and white rhinos/dama gazelle. The habitat building is fine, but it's the backstage buildings, separation paddocks, and guest area detailing I'm struggling to feel motivated around. Mindlessly placing plants, rocks, and scenery can be super boring for large areas.

The plain is to use these two big habitats - plus an African elephant habitat (though only including a small herd of females so I have an excuse to build a little smaller than would otherwise be necessary) - as a centrepiece to a wider African area to take up the eastern side of the zoo. Contrary to my usual madness, I'm not starting with an entrance. I've put in the guest spawners as a placeholder but until I feel inspired I'm not going to bother building something.

Now that I've finished the Community Challenge, and the Zoolympics Challenge .. time to finish my Alphabet Zoo collection so I can start on my World Zoo collection.
So back to my A Zoo so I can add the new A animals and finish the remodel I started months back and forgot rofl. Currently sitting at 220 animals and almost 5k guests and 36 fps ... paused rofl. It doesn't help that there are a lot of herd animals in the A group of animals rofl. Money is also dropping so will need to let it play out for a while and hopefully build up the cash flow again before doing more building.

In the mean time .. my favourite screenshot from my Zoolympics Challenge zoo. I don't know whether this is the same Sifaka or they are all different but they love playing this rofl.

I've did something totally new and unexpected: I played a bit in the new scenario today. Something I haven't really done before but I wnated to chack out the new map and just wanted to try it out. Already finished bronze.

And I have to say that I really really like this map, there are so much details added and I love the buildings. It's the perfect backdrop for a small classical European city zoo, so that's what I want to do soon (after finishing Biopark): turn the scenario map into an actual, realistic city zoo with historical buildings and mordernised areas.
Not sure what I will do with the Frontier headquaters building yet but I think I should give it a special function not just keeping it as another building in the background. Do you have any ideas?
Also, the zoo will be called Cambridge Zoo Gardens to round it out :)

I decided to start with lions. I'm pretty happy with it, though the surrounding area needs a lot of detailing still.

It's (vaguely) based off of Auckland Zoo's "Lion Hill", although excluding the little hut you can enter to see the lions through glass (due to my plans around the moat, this wouldn't have fit in). The separation habitats aren't very realistic either as there typically wouldn't be direct contact between them and the main habitat, but they're mostly there for flavour anyway. I might try and rework them at some point. The moat will be a 'natural' lake to the left of this habitat (where I'm going to put swans), and a river extending to the right and curving north. Next door to the lions I'm going to do either hyenas or African wild dogs, but off-screen here I've sarted work on the first mixed savannah habitat which has currently got giraffes in it.

On the other side of the zoo, once I'm done with the giraffes, I'm going to start work on Siberian tigers.

Today i did...just a little bit of roofing, but not on my tropical house!

I revisited the hastily thrown together stable for my wisents and besides putting actually effort into the roof instead of just a few roof tiles but the more interesting part was an expansion, doubling up as both a storage space for hay and an aviary for most likly an owl.
Currently i mostly focused on the interior, creating 3 seperateable cages, each with a door, aswell as topping them with a storage space and a lader to get to it, aswell as a small workbench to prep some food on and what else a zoo keeper might need. Havent decided on the actual owl species yet, but as this is part of hay barn i find barn owls to be very fitting, but an european eagle, greatgrey or maybe some little owls are all on the table aswell.
