What did you do in Planet Zoo today?

I'm trying to figure out a good way to build a tiny caiman habitat that I want to incorporate into a reptile house, but it's difficult due to the way the water collides with barriers. I don't want it to be a big habitat because that seems like overkill (the first one I made ended up being close in size to my Bengal tiger habitat).
The one Time I've built a Caiman Enclosure, it became extremely big even though I tried to build as small as possible so other Animals will have Space in the Reptile House too. I know some Reptiles like Monitor Lizards need a lot of Space but I can't imagine a Caiman needing that much (is it even different from the Saltwater Crocodile and Gharial?). So better prepare in the same Way as if you want to build for a big Crocodile.

Started my advanced Research Project with adding a Researcher to the Chimpanzee Enclosure. Also completely changed the Backstage Area of the Chimpanzee Enclosure.
Then I've continued with my Elephant House. Is there a Way to copy a Part that consists of multiple Groups without needing to create a Blueprint first? I want it to stay on the Grid because I would probably need a Eternity to get it right again otherways. Maybe some Way to just add everything in the same Group? Pretty sure that was possible somehow 🤔

Nah, I play with welfare off so I don't have to worry about all that nonsense. I'll keep fiddling and see what I can do. If I can't make it small enough I just won't use them, but I'm sure there will be a way to do it.

It's not nonsense. Just bad Research by Frontier cough cough Ring Tailed Lemur cough cough Hippopotamus cough cough Chimpanzee 🤧 sounds like I'm getting sick

Yeah, I mean the original space requirements are nonsense. I play with welfare off so I can ignore it all. Anyway, I managed to make it as small as possible and it still seems too big, but with two caimans it should be okay. They are a lot smaller than I imagined - almost exhibit animal sized, really. Cute though. I've had to take a break now because of how much of a hassle it was to build the habitat. 😅 When I've finished touching it up I'll share a screenshot because I'm pretty happy with what I ended up with.

I have made for my workshop this habitat i liked ( it's not totaly finished but i enjoy it )

It has a Dwarf Caiman habitat in the middle, where guests can look at the ground side from above, and i made it so the pathways that goes under the habitat, lets you see the crocs swimming while you are looking throught vivariums

And i made the same on the other side where you can watch Salties basking, throught vivariums as well

If you are curious

You all make me worry I have to turn welfare off again when I come to some species. Sigh. Space requirement consistency would be a dream come true in this game.

Now that we have a date, I played my secondary zoo to start planning the renovation works for my polar bear habitat. It won't change much because I want to keep it similar, but I will remove terrain from the backside to make it smaller. This is the habitat before starting the renovation works:

Here's my caiman habitat. About as small as I could reasonably make it. Obviously they can't deep dive in here but it doesn't bother me so much (I really only felt like diving was important to the penguins, seals, otters, and polar bears anyway). Anyway, I completed this reptile house and I hate the exterior so I'm going to start a new zoo now that I have recovered some of my skills.

Getting Japanese garden vibes

Finished the Roof of the Main Hall of my Elephant House. Also started to work on the Part of it for the Bull Elephant but I'll continue that Part later 🐘

So, you build your habitats first and then throw walls around it, to make it indoor? I have yet to make a tropical house or something like that and was always wondering how to do it best. I only made a very small one waaaay back in the day with some kind of reptile habitat. Nile monitor? Can't remember.

This game has so much possibiulities that it'll take me years to try it all, yet I can't wait to get more, more, more and am afraid it stops to soon. Ridicolous, when you think about it.

Yeah that's how I usually do it. I find it easier than trying to work indoors.

I build one where i put the house and the paths down first and it honestly really sparked my creativity to make as much use of the space as possible and gave me some nice idears. It also fealt like a very organic process, as i struggled at multiple points inside the house with space, but having smart get arounds really made it special, exampels include a multilayerd babirusa habitat next to where the way from a treetopwalk came down, building upon a part of the exibit and turning it into a cave with exhibits aswell as a small platforms for the babirusa on top. Would i have just changed the layout of the house i would have never got that idear, especally as the exhibit was planned to be for komododragons, but was to small for them.

But on mybehalf of what ive been doing, i said "screw you" to my plans of quickly finishing up my southamerica section and instead build the base for a little house with shops, a small fakeexhibit for some southamerican birds or small creature (that would actually be functional besides being tiny) and the indoor section for the jaguars, that i allready crossed out for my zoo but gonna build a enclousure for them anyways.
Also just some exhibits, a little forrest, monkeys, anteaters, caimans and even monitors as an absolute southamerican animal would have been quite a small area anyways and it fits well in the space, so that will be what i will do the next day instead of studying for university
