What did you do in Planet Zoo today?

So in fact i did spend another 1,5 hours after hearing you guys feedback and now the interior is mostly done. The big plaza in the middle is a bit meh cause it isnt really space used efficently but i dont wanna redo everything else thats also imo quite pretty. Here have some shots from around the place.
There are 2 entry points for keepers, one each for the slide doors to the big boxes.
backdoor 4.jpeg

The smaller one i allready decorated with some general supplies.

back door 3.jpeg

In the other one you can see quite nicly how i imagine the gates to work, with the keepers being able to push and pull them along a rail on the ground to open and close the boxes from a save space, pulling them practically into their small keeper cells.

Lastly theres also a new backdoor holding, accessible through a third gate in the middle. It could be used for quarantine, seperation and to actually move the animals in and out of their habitat.
Propaply will still build a gate for that outdoor holding, but we will see about that.

It's been a while since i last posted an update, but I thought it was finally time!
Since I was a bit unhappy with the layout and placement of some habitats, I decided to start over again (come on, we all do it). But I blueprinted my favorite habitats and transferred them over into this new park (why is blueprinting habitats such a pain in this game ahhhh)

Anyway, I have been building this North American Desert House with prairie dogs, armadillos and a couple of exhibit animals during the last few days. Really happy with how it turned out. Since my zoo is placed in Germany, the house is called "Wüstenhaus" – the two dots above the "U" are placed on the sign, but unfortunately they disappear the moment you zoom out even a little bit.

Here's an overview of the Desert House, with the outdoor area for the prairie dogs in front of the building:

The right side of the building with the outdoor area for the armadillos:

Outdoor area for the prairie dogs. I love how the coverage with glass panels turned out, but it was a pain to get right. Also I love how they frequently climb up these little platforms I built for them.
20230127110215_1.jpg

Indoor area for the prairie dogs. It looks a bit plain, so I might use a little more foliage still.

There are four exhibits on the opposite side of the prairie dogs (with Gila Monster, Rattlesnake, Tarantula and Scorpion):

And finally, indoor and outdoor area for the armadillos:

Sorry for the low resolution of especially the rocks in these images – I had to lower the graphics again because the park already started to lag for me, and the rock textures are usually the first thing to wane.

I'll probably leave some space to the back of the building so I can add peccaries if we ever get them. (Please give us peccaries, Frontier, pleeeease :))

I'm working on a really European zoo right now (which somehow still doesn't have a name)
For this zoo I used the GIS program in my work and looked for a free gap in the map of my work-city and now I place a zoo in this gap.
It won't be 100% like I have it on the map, but it's serving as a guide for me.
It will certainly be a while before I build something in the zoo.
But I'll let you participate a little bit ⬇️

The parking lot needs a bit love right now and there is still the handicapped and bus parking lot missing. Both come on the other side of the zoo entrance. So from the perspective at the overview, above it.
Please ignore the many components that are still hanging around 🤣 It always looks pretty wild to me when I'm building.

That's pretty cool, taking planet parking to the next level

I really like this idea, looks great so far

I made a Striped Hyena habitat for a zoo I recently started, Safyras Bluff Zoo. As you can see, I used a whole lot of faux rocks, and overall I'm pretty happy with how it turned out.

Overview of the whole habitat.

The viewing area. I haven't really been using the sun shade pieces from the Africa theme a whole lot, so I'm glad I got to use them here. I originally was going to use cloth pieces for an awning over it, but it just didn't look right.

Okay, I tried shrinking the file size of the images, because at first I was getting error messages saying that my images were too large. Hopefully that will do it.

Yeah pics work! Great work on those rock arches

After a couple of weeks playing Planet Entrance, I'm about to start with my first animal enclosure. This is going to be my most themed park in Planet Zoo yet (and probably, ever), as I'm a player with a rather low suspension of disbelief. Specially with things like "how did those visitor come to my park?" that also happened with Planet Coaster. That's why I started my zoo with some workshop help, with a small bus parking with an underground station (https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2834387876) and then I added a tunnel so the buses come from somewhere . I also used a couple of Frontier's blueprints because I wanted to start with the animal enclosured ASAP (I failed and it wasn't that fast, unsurprisingly).

The whole idea of the zoo is based on the concept of biodiversity hotspots, areas of very high diversity of plant and animal species which have suffered great loss of their natural habitats. So the entrance area is full of education boards about conservation topics (I put them all). There is also a big shop right before the only exit, of course 😁. I built part of its interior with some more useful workshop items (https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2895720668).

At the end of that conservation boards hallway we have the Visitor Center, which includes a restaurant with an open terrace upstairs, and a education area mainly for children, the Discovery Outpost (notice that you can see our real scientists working in the research building through the windows). There is also a big map of the world with the hotspots. After that, all guests reach the central lake where the paths for every geographical area of the zoo start.

I know, I said it was going to be a heavily themed park but everything here looks very generic (lots of New World pieces). That's because I thought that the entrance area should be built with the most neutral building styles I could, as it has no geographical or biome inspiration. But it will be very different once I start with the geographical areas... Quick preview in this overhead shot of the lake and the entrance buildings to each area.

I will probably create a new thread about this zoo in the dedicated sub-forum, please come by to follow the updates and sharing your opinions. I will definitely need the wise advice of my fellow forum colleagues as I already have a couple of doubts about the zoo planification.
