What did you do in Planet Zoo today?

@Captain Callum preferably I was going to go for wood.

So sorry! I shouldn't have wasted your time to ask - I never even thought of the workshop, I can look there! I don't normally use it, I guess there is a wealth of stuff available that I am missing out on. Sorry, Captain!
alrighty here you go - https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2920542898 ( 🤣 wasnt sure if you wanted advice or a free blueprint)

ok so a basic wooden sign board is simple enough
  • using base game wooden posts, the 1 metre post is handy for the sides, align to surface and snap angle to the sides and then move onto each side and lower just below the sign board. Do this for every side to get a nice wooden border
  • With a wooden border now, align to surface or snap angle to the ground. Place the 1 metre post at each corner just high enough to join onto the wooden border but not high enough to break through

What do you do when you cant decide between three different animals?
Easy you build for all 3 of them at once!
Since the wetlands pack i really wanted to give a go at the waterbuffalos, but didnt find a place where they would fit, but now that i decided to add some more waterloving animals next to the pigmy hippos, it was finnaly their time.
This is just a tiny corner of their habitat as im to tired for today, but they are really fun and im picking up some more tricks for habitat building over time to make it both quicker and more beautiful so i dont doubt that this will be finished soon if i continue with that fire.
Only thing i didnt feel like today was building a new custom fence, but i think that the very basic one i allready used for the emus does just fine.

At the end, two fine additions to my collection, for the price of one! 😂 Thanks!!

Looks great @KönigDerKaffeebohnen

Today and last night I built for the capuchin monkeys and, since the game was nagging me lol, I made a start on the staff room, workshop and research place.

I know I'm not nearly as good as a lot of you here, but I have noticed such an improvement compared to my franchise zoos that I would really like to go back and do all of those again haha...
Ah no need to compare yourself to others, that only makes one want to leave the game. Even that nice little staff room looks great and with some more trees or other nature around it, it would look even better

Yeah everything that callum said +1.
Also, remember we all started somewhere and if im honest my first habitats looked far more trashy then yours.
Over time you will learn tricks to be both a more beautiful and efficent builder and just naturally find a style that will fit you.
I personally found that i quite like building simple low theme zoos with natural looking habitats and lots and lots and lots of nice wideshot panorama views, but that doesnt mean you will do the same.
Just try out different ways to tackle habitats and gates, different building sets and im sure you will find some that you will favor!

Planet parking lot is something ive never done and find both fascinating and grueling to think about.
How do you guys even build them?
Asphalt path and then working with beton or something for the white markings?

Asphalt path and then working with beton or something for the white markings?
  • 10 metre path aligned to grid and make a large enough square or rectangle, i like to use either the gray or black asphalt paths
  • primitive rectangles rotated to make the white markings
  • in the example above, light gray plaster floor for guest paths
  • add mulch for plants, cover with bushes, nettles and trees
  • african offroad vehicle for cars, im not downloading custom cars from the workshop
  • delete one square of the grid which is mainly inside a car space. add a guest spawner here
  • add some plaster floor over the spawner (colored to the path material) and fill in the gap
  • add guest barrier hidden underground to guide guests to the zoo entrance, otherwise they wander everywhere since its one giant path
not easy in the slightest but looks really good once completed. I do laugh when i post pics like these to reddit and every car hater comes on and says its a waste of space 🤣

Well hi. Howdy y'all. Quell here, CEO of the World Zoo Organization, and I'm here to give y'all the brand tour of the newest area in Longview Zoo: South America...

Also, we have some fantastic areas for guests, some gardening and some sculptures. I hope y'all enjoy this:

You walk into the zoo and meet our nice rockwork:

This little statue area greets guests and makes them feel comfortable in our small zoo. Across the path are our badgers (see our previous posts)...

Now, y'all already saw the North American section, so let's go to the right and see South America:

Right in front of the butterfly center is a little food area with coffee and cakes for cold days. 2 food trucks have taken up permanent residence here.
Next to the butterflies is the swamp:

Our family of capybara. We have an albino male we rescued and is now living his life here, happy.

As you go down the path, you meet our maned wolves:

So beautiful, aren't they? The lovely red color contrasts nicely with the green grass.

As you keep going, you'll come face to face with our anteaters:

There's baby Esquivel, named after the musician, sleeping...

As you keep going, you'll come to the Amazon Adventure building...

It's a new area housing a walkthrough capuchin enclosure, jaguars, and yellow anaconda and boa constrictors.

The capuchins:
