What did you do in Planet Zoo today?

I’m not even joking the second it turned November Massachusetts went from 70s to 30s. It’s the perfect weather for hot cocoa right now
I think what's funny is I don't like regular coffee or hot chocolate when it's hot, but I'll be drinking yerba mate 🧉 like water🤣

Hey, don't knock it till you try it, pal. What fast food does Scotland have?
Alright, fine.

It might differ in cities but considering I'm more rural I do have to travel around to find fast food. Generally for me where I am, I have 2 options: Fish n chip shops are the staple for proper fast food. Serving basically everything deep fried as scotland is sure proud to serve deep fried pizza, mars bars, haggis and whatever else they can get their hands on. The second option would be bakeries - sausage rolls, pastry bakes, savoury pies are very popular lunch options. You know very healthy options, if I want healthy food I have to go to a grocery store and grab a sandwich.

So generally you can find good old classic fish n' chip shops in almost every place, mediocre Chinese and Indian restaurants and taste of America. Taste of America meaning McDonald's, burger king, five guys (milkshakes are to die for), kfc and other random places. That being said, the only fast food chain I seem to like in America is Steak n'shake which was everywhere in the southeast the last time I was over there. Places like McDonald's and burger king absolutely suck compared to the uk versions, better with regional branches for a decent burger.

Made some progress in my south america house. Got the rough shape and layout of the "Rainforest room" finished up. It will have the capuchin and peccary in the center and the armadillo, sloth and a couple exhibt on the path that circles around and will eventually lead into the amazon river section.
Honestly id would have much prefered to have the armadillo and peccary somewhere else, but the absolute lack of small jungle animals from south america leaves me kinda without any alternative :D

It looks so good. I always struggle to build those backstage staff areas and tend to just use the blueprints. Do you have any tips for building such good looking and well designed backstage areas?
Sorry I'm late Mr. Hugo, Sir. (btw my mother named our backyard hegdhog Hugo)
I like to make a list of what should go into such areas. It also helps if you look at company premises on Googlemaps to get a feel for the layout. Areas that fit together sensibly should also stand together and areas where trucks have to drive, for example, should have larger areas for turning, etc. (My job suits me a bit; I'm not a city planner, but I know most of what's important)
In terms of design, I can give you the tip to save the walls and things you want to use in a group in the color you want. For each building complex you only copy the assembly group. So it doesn't seem restless.
Think about your zoo topic beforehand and google around a bit. I was looking for ECO buildings for my ECO Zoo. These are mostly made of wood and have a green roof. Many also use old shipping containers. Then add vertical planting for facades, solar systems and wind turbines and then everything comes together.

Never heard of Steak n Shake. Although I could really go fro some Fish and Chips right about now.

Probably their version of Shakeshack
Pretty much, i think its just a southeastern/eastern midwest chain. I should say thats over in the usa, not scotland. They did try and open a store down in manchester england, but the locals found the food too expensive for what its worth :ROFLMAO: Know that i think of it, eating out in america is much more expensive than the uk.

After finding the flow the interior came together pretty quickly. Walls are still looking kinda plain so i have to think of something for that.
Also started on the climbing frame for the capuchins. Man do i wish we had something bigger like spider or howler monkeys right now. One has to use a binocular to see the capuchins up there :D

After the success of Marsupial road, my zoo has earned enough funds to expand with a brand new area: Land of Giants!

I still need to finish the lake, but you can already see a big building housing several giant animals (giant snails, giant leaf insects, giant scorpions, giant tarantula...) as well as a pizzeria:

But before entering you get a view from the outdoor habitat for Galapagos giant tortoises:

Once inside, you have more viewing opportunities. Just pretend the sign isn't a terrapin but a tortoise.

I am still kind of checking all the new content. Have not played much in my zoo. Just been looking around in sandbox to try things such as new vending machines, checking what enrichment the new animals have etc. I would like to try the Australian scenario over the weekend and see how it goes.
vending machines are not new

Well well while i cant flex this hard with my house i can say that my outdoor enclosures are coming along nicly.
Mostly did more fencing on the peccarys today, with this old ass fence giving me a headache. Multiple times i thought about redoing it or cutting of the electrical part but in the end it looks rather fine and acceptable enough. Now i only need one good deco session and the outdoor peccary habitat will be mostly done

On the other side meanwhile i did a bit more fine tuning so here are the pictures i promised yesterday.

The main attraction here is the underwater viewing, but sadly the capys cant dive (even if its more then 2 meters of depth) and the viewing looks worse when the ground is even deeper. But the tapir likes it!
Something i like less is the fact that the wood of these carpet thingies isnt recolorable and while it doesnt look the worst it is quite the shame.

Speaking of what the capybaras can do, both baths for them are fully functional!
I sadly was a little late so i could only catch him standng up, but the two of them can enjoy a bath whenever they like.

Overall im very pleased with this habitat. Its nothing complex or special, not even the whole deal, but thats the charme. In most zoos there are still many older or just generally less special encolosures and i sometimes find it hard to capture such simple things in a game as bombastic as planet zoo can be, so im happy that i really that old city zoo flair that i tried to go for
