What did you do in Planet Zoo today?

I built for an animal that I don't use a lot: Asian water buffalos! The habitat is simple, with a ditch like the tigers and a separation area at the back. The interesting thing about it is that the buffalos can be seen from the gharial habitat too!

This corner of the city zoo is running out of space:

I’ve always wanted to make a “square based zoo” like just start building one thing then immediately build off of it. I normally try to make it more “organic” looking, with curving paths. But it can be hard to make that realistic without the wide open spaces. I like how this turned out it’s very nice!

The "Tropical Asia" themed exhibition area welcomed a new guest: Sun bear.

Today i felt a rush of inspiration and decorated the interior of my pigmy hippo habitat. Sadly while doing so the game bugged out and everything besides the small room on the left where the gate is isnt part of the habitat anymore somehow and i can even move my animals there. The hippos also dont wanna move through the gates anymore eventhough everything worked out before but oh well decoration for the win

Today I built a complex, I am very satisfied with the building part, I moved all the staff facilities in. But a strange thing happened, all the facilities became unusable, even if the road connection is fine, even if it is right in front of the staff, the staff in the game still can't use the veterinary room, lounge, breeder's hut and quarantine area, etc. Does anyone know how to solve this problem?

Construction should have very little to do with working facilities, maybe delete the paths, the staff buildings and then place them again in case something broke the pathing.

Today i had just a bit of time left before my study session with friends so on a whimp i watched a few of @SalamAnders videos and while all videos where great, especally the armadillo episode i wished for a year ago, what really caught me was his top 10 best exhibit build video. To say i got inspired was an understatement and after a day of studying quantum physics trying my hands on incorporating a few more creative exhibits into my tropical house that im overhauling anyways was a great and relaxing exercise!
For starters, i tried myself on an Axolotl exhibit, which fit pretty well in the structure of my entry hall. The cover gave me some trouble and im still a firm believer that the black top ceiling thing is the number 1 worst aspect of the exhibit and id LOVE a toggle to turn it of, hiding it under some thatch from the indonesia pack worked quite well.

For the interior i kept it admitedly quite simple, just adding some rocks, mulch and a background.

I tried to increase the exhibit a bit with a faux part, but sadly the water trick with the glass fences didnt work so i gotta find a different idear of what to do with it now but for my favorite thing i build today its this airlock on the right. If you remeber from a little while back i said that one of my larger issues that me annoyed me about this house is the lack of airlocks and now one of two is finished. I also took the chance to spread the design of the metal bars, white concrete, wood and lines a bit further, by now covering most of the entry part and all of the pigmy hippo habitat. This helped alot in strenghtening the visual identity of the build and i gotta say i like it alot.

For the Airlock itself we got not just a pathway but also an exhibit for amazonian giant centipeds! Closing the exhibit in with some faux rock walls and a custom ceiling helped alot to make it feel more in line for real terrariums and while still on the larger side especally for insects it feels much less out of place then the 4x4x4 titan. Behind the POV is also a staff exit for the backstage of the hippos, gibbons and another exit of the building into a larger staff hub.

Now for my favorite picture of today, how it actually looks from inside the tropical hall and i gotta say im just super happy with it. It feels weird to be so proud of just a door but it looks so so much better then before and finally makes atleast this part of the tropical house basically complete.

And lastly i fixed my hippos traversable area problem so have a sneak peak into their backstageholding where they both decided to wander to to take a nap.
They have two holding boxes seperated by a gate and a lil wall that the staff can pass over but the hippos cant. Its crazy how much of an upgrade the decorated interior and little stable feel like and i can really recomend anyone to try themself at a backstage area or stable for their animals. It makes you build with intend for things like seperateable boxes and to think about ways for the keepers to access the habitat while the animals can be locked up to not harm them really helps atleast me to feel like my zoo is alive and functional. + even if its not suppoused to be seen youd be surprised when actually walking around from how many angles you can take a glimps at backstage parts, making it even more rewarding that you actually made something there instead of just an empty room with bedding

I built two purely indoor exhibits for my Komodo dragons. This is standard for keeping these lizards in non-tropical areas. I also built a completely different purely indoor exhibit for young Komodo dragons, which I think is well built, given my understanding of this animal. However, due to the game settings, their welfare index is not good. First, the exaggerated 600 square meters area requirement, and second, they can't climb trees. I don't know if this problem will be solved when the game life is not long. If not, then I can only ignore the welfare indicators in the game.
