What do you miss from Alpha/Beta?

bobbleheads, better loading distance, how planetary rings looked like, and of course my fav "will there be wipe" and "external view the definitive discussion" threads!

Wondering how that guy got that Anaconda in beta while we pew pewed each other in Sideys and Cobras.

There were amazing glitches from time to time. Once I traded some stuff, sold it, got a profit, cargo does not dissapear! I sell it one more time. Cargo is still there.

Click that like a 100 times - and you got an Anaconda. I just logged off, don't like that kinda cheating, that ruins everything for me. I am not a kiddo who installs a script that hits everyone directly in the head like some BF4 teens do. What's the point?

Glitches......In beta, I once glitches inside the internal walls of a station. I could not get out and had to keep boosting until I ended up on the outside the inside of the station.

NPCs spamming you with the same message.

Flying inside/through another ship

Stations opening fire on me for no reason

And the best one.... Getting the Founders World permit, even though I was not a kickstarter backer (just premium beta). I still have the permit:)

What do I miss from Alpha and Beta? Optimism. I think I'd go for Optimism. :( And trying to avoid the mating rituals of Federal Capital Ships. :D

I think that one cuts deep here. There is a private backer's forum which is still running, I hear, and I wish I could get in. To have a full forum of optimism and positivity, not the negativity we experience here, would be awesome. Frontier, I'll pay the fee to get into the private backer's forum, let me in!

Anyone remember "Report detected crimes"? I remember scanning Cobras as they were docking, only to watch them explode. If the station would attack wanted people, and hopefully scanned smugglers again, that would be great.

Almost had it.. nope lost it again.. it will come to me.. .. wasntint strange mixed instances or hyper spacing from alpha in to beta.. maybe it was 4.0 (EDs finest instance).....theres was certainly a lot more funny but its not that...the price of tea? nope that wasnt it.. was it the chap with with loads of gold in his sidewinder? Flying through planets? Smithy's claim... nope it' s gone.

Lol. You would be sorely disappointed with the state private backers forum if you wanted optimism and positivity. ;)

The insanely OP cannons - very high speed projectiles and much higher ammo count.

Only having 5 systems to jump between, and not having fuel.

The madness before wipes.

Grinding up from a Sidewinder (NOT!)

The expectation that the DDF features would be added before release.

"A better trading system is coming" and using trading tools wasn't a cheat, just filling a gap.

Completely icing up and doing boost runs into a station from 20km out.

The first iteration of the Supercruise music.

Bobbleheads.

Might not be a popular opinion, but I don't need a Milky Way and 400 billion stars. Or rather - I would prefer to have a more detailed, hand crafted systems that are unique, hubs of activity, important places. It was closer to that in Public Beta than it is now.

Populated area is too big and Powerplay makes it 10 times worse.

I basically miss when the game was actually challenging and difficult, when you could die at the drop of a hat for not paying attention, and when you actually had to know how the game worked and make it work for you rather than jumping on the forum and complaining and having yet another feature "consoled" into a low iq version of itself.

Now it's all kiddies complaining that they only make 2 million per hour and it takes them a whole week to buy an anaconda and insurance is too expensive and they shouldn't in trouble for shooting cops etc etc. At least they've stopped whining about docking... do you remember when it actually WAS difficult?

"Playability trumps realism" Michael Brookes once told me while trying to justify killing off smuggling. Well apparently brain dead play and boredom trumps all and challenge is useless.

So...all you awesome old timers helped FD during the early days to make a game......and you made a boring single player multiplayer mess.....you then went on to exploit all the bugs to gain mega credits such as the Luxuory Good and Performance Enhancer bugs that gained some of you 100s of Billions in Credits...........and then when the game was released, people said it was boring and could not understand how others had made billions yet they could not get out of a Cobra........and you shout them down for being greedy and being too young to "get" the game?.......am I right?

In a word, no. Certainly some of the blame for E: D probably can be placed on the backers all wanting their cake and being able to eat it too, but ultimately updating a retro-'84 single player game to be an MMO, whilst using p2p networking, coupled with a 'broad church, on-size-fits-all' approach for solo and multi universes, going to market/venture capital for additional finance, adding a 1-to-1 scale galaxy and 'boring' super-cruise to convey the vastness of space, trying to appeal to 40-something 'hardcore no-life' sim players like me, as well as 40-something people who are time poor with family commitments *AND* the Xbox generation, whilst simultaneously narking everyone off with cutting of promised features like 'pure' single player, releasing with a 'minimum complete' feature set, allowing obvious bugs and exploits to go unpatched, unrectified and unpunished in gamma, and then seemingly ignoring the 'old timers' who backed the initial vision anyway (like to think that the jury's still out on that though), all kind of lies with Frontier don't you think?
.
I will admit to being awesome though. :)
