What do you think DB meant by this?

He states there are things in space that are not celestial objects. They are already there and they can be discovered.

He should know, i believe he's part of the team that develops this game.

Look, if you think the man doesn't have the ability to read, comprehend and answer a simple question, why would you even listen to (or comment on) ANYTHING he says ?
Exactly the point, don't believe anything you read or hear. Someone selling something is likely to say anything at all to make a sale, it's called salesmanship.

doesn't seem too effective to me, if there are so few things and they could be anywhere, there should be at least some sort of way to discern a general location...

That's why I think they're more of a USS variety - otherwise it's a needle in a haystack. The USSs might be confined to certain large regions of space, mind you.

That's my guess.

It's funny to see people trying to figure out meanings when the answer was pretty clear and direct, to a direct question, not even opened to interpretation, but still, people find some way to try to find other curious meanings :D

Context people!

When you're out exploring far from civilisation, do you see USSs?

No, not after 100LY or so past the Last Homely House (last civilized port you're in)

So if you DO see something further out, it's going to be worth exploring... aaaaand possibly running away from ;)

Yeah, too much interpreting, too little reading.

I found some... Pretty rare... got excited in the moment, shields raised, weapons ready, hands shaking like if my hota sudenly earned force feedback... and then... was those usual traps of strong signal source or cannisters of an exploded ship...

But who knows... (well... Evil Braben, who do not tell us, know :D)

This Kayweg guy seems to be one of few here who can actually keep himself from overthinking few simple sentences... o_O

Btw I was approx 500Ly away from Sol, finding completely unexplored systems (not a single planet been acclaimed, untill I came...) and right now I'm maybe 700 - 800 Ly from Sol and still few USS and WSS shows up time to time. I finally have good reason to explore them! :D

Btw I feel a little bit scared in this thread!

Don't bother with gilmour. He's still butthurt that FD doesn't want him to cheat in open play.

It's not totally without sense that you will find USS with traps out there. Even that the systems got no claim, that does not mean that someone already did not pass through it, just without scanning it, or delivering the scan to a base.

You are always the "first to report", not necessarily the first to find them.

And for the sake of in-fiction, those pirates could have some hidden base in some of those planets, that we cannot go down just yet.

The ships that I found exploded and with cannisters were all with those things who damage your ship (chemicals)... so... could be possible that they were damaged by that until exploding or destroyed by who knows who (explorers not willing to lose their "first to discover" and bonuses of exploration, or space craziness/depression making the person kill himself... or... aliens)
:D

he probably meant encounters in deep space.... easy. I was in deep space hours earlier and dropped there... then out of a sudden, a fed dropship dropped there too, scanned me , and swept away without i even been able to scan it...

idk how could that dropship just drop right at the same location as me while in supercruise, this is split-second's precision that is !! :p
