What is the most terrifiying thing you can imagine while exploring?

Hollow triangle.

Plowing into a neutron star because the game decided to freeze up for 20 seconds at that exact moment. I fear nothing but annoying game bugs :/

Finding a bio anomaly and investigating, drop in and find a mass of jellyfish like creatures in their millions so fly over for a closer look.

As I get within a km the mass seems to become aware of my presence and moves in my direction, they envelope the ship and some attach by some sort of sucker to the canopy (awe nice)

Then the ones on the canopy excrete aa glowing green substance and my canopy begins to distort and crack.

I can also hear the hull creaking and moaning, then the canopy explodes and they flood inward.

That's what I am affraid of.

That's kinda rare though, even in thargoid space, to be fair.

I went to Beagle Point with my shiny new T10 just after it was released.

Landed at beagle Point, went for a buzz around in my SRV and my ship decided to return to orbit.

Why was this a big deal?
Well, for those who don't remember, the T10 had some "issues" with landing.
Sometimes it'd land clipping though the surface, sometimes it'd "land" 50ft up in the air and sometimes it'd just flat-out refuse to land at all.

I recalled my ship, it landed and I got this:-

...which was cool and fun to look at for a little while but then I realised I'd have to find a way to board the ship and suddenly it got quite serious. [where is it]

Also, at one point I started to get this every time I tried to jump along a pre-plotted navigational course.

The thought of having to navigate back to the Bubble one jump at a time was enough to make me seriously consider self-destructing.
Fortunately, it fixed itself after restarting the game.

The Borg and Space-Cthulhu are scary thoughts but not half as scary as the thought of losing my SRV or having corrupt nav-data.

Actually, a fairly scary prospect would be jumping normally, as you do, but just as the countdown is about to end, your computer shuts off, dead.

Life support is on. No lights. Nothing.

But you still jump.

But something isn't right. It's kinda rough.

Then..

A thunderous boooom...

You exit hyperspace directly to normal space, still with everything offline.

You're in a seemingly gentle spin, with a slow pitch.
You wonder where you are, it doesn't seem dangerous, just floating in eerie silence, as the star field rotates around.

As you slowly pitch around, your systems try to reboot.
A few flickers, and your HUD comes on.

With a pitch ladder and altitude. Which is falling.

You still have no control, but you notice you've dropped out of hyperspace a few km above an 9g (landable) world.

As you pitch over, you see the horizon of this massive planet. And its approaching fast.

Your thrusters still aren't responding.

Your ship reboots itself a second time.

You wait, impatiently.

Your engines scream in to action, and you've got full control.

Your FSD is still on cooldown. You can't jump out.

You're just gonna have to fly it out.

Then figure out where the hell you are.

It's just a shame you can't actually get lost in ED. Lol

Doing that last jump to a red supergiant I want to scan, and finding it has just NOW gone supernova as I come out of hyperspace and instantly burn to a crisp. Yep, that would be terrifying if it was possible.

Landing on a jovian high altitude station, after half an hour flying through 50 mile high clouds. I disembark and make my way through customs to the open air restaurant plaza.

The three suns in this system create a dazzling brightness that makes everything feel clean and new. Every one here seems to be enjoying that new meat-popstickle snack that's rather popular all of a sudden.

I'm here to rendezvous with my crewmate, then theres this coughing...

A customer vomits blood on to the bright steril floor. Muscles twitching they look up in horror from their hands.

Something is moving under their skin.

Their back arches and they explode.

Its difficult to distinguish but everyone saw it. A few feet away the black wet mass of cords is vibrating in my pariphial vision but its now standing. Bones audibly snap and click into joints. Its growth heaves in oxygen and expells a thick mist of ammonia.

We start running.

My biggest fear is that somehow they open the door and get inside the ship...

I really think I should get back to the bubble soon, that doors not going to hold out forever!

Seriously... What would give your space catheter burn out syndrome?

Im thinking freaky stations here. Let the imagination run wild. Pics would be awesome.

Dead and frozen human bodies smashing into my canopy while exploring wreckage and the ship COVAS reporting a hull breach and power plant systems being compromised, then the ships's power shuts down with only the oxygen counter ticking away.

The description reminds me slightly of the monster in this Secret World trailer:
