Whispers, barely audibly "Necro", slinks silently away...As I approach a space station I aim to just miss it then hit boost and FA off and then I ask for docking permission , then I orientate my ship so as to give me a 'fun' view pointing the cockpit at the centre of the station then I try to time ' FA on ' again so as to line up my ship with the toast rack.
ps n dont shout 'Necro !' anyone.
That actually sounds like a good bit of funAs I approach a space station I aim to just miss it then hit boost and FA off and then I ask for docking permission , then I orientate my ship so as to give me a 'fun' view pointing the cockpit at the centre of the station then I try to time ' FA on ' again so as to line up my ship with the toast rack.
And all the workers at DeLacey thank you for your continued support. Turn them into a fleet of hire ships (in-system use only) you could retire.I think my in-game habits are common and not that quirky at all. However, I've been scoffed at for using a docked sidewinder to indicate on the galmap every system where I'm allied with the local factions. Yes I ran out of map markers.
That actually sounds like a good bit of fun![]()
You are all weirdos. Thank God I’m normal.
I’m numbering my ships according to the sequence I acquired them and include the number into the ship ID. The number is followed by a single letter which goes up one position in the alphabet whenever the ship got lost (I still have no solution for the case I lose a ship more than 26 times…).
And…
…before I logout I swap to the Corvette or the Mamba (when I was not already flying one of them).
Because: In case something terrible happens in the meantime (station gets attacked and all my ships are lost besides the one I was in at logout, I’m not stuck with a stupid ship in which nobody wants to be trapped when Armageddon comes!
Impressive idea. I didn't know there was so much intelligence in the galaxy...I think my in-game habits are common and not that quirky at all. However, I've been scoffed at for using a docked sidewinder to indicate on the galmap every system where I'm allied with the local factions. Yes I ran out of map markers.
Nope. ID is AN-xxA. I'm stuck. If your ID allows space for double letters
Not a regular quirk, but...
Request permission to dock.
Boost towards mailslot from ~3km or more.
FA Off.
Rotate 180 degrees so you glide into station backwards.
It's way cool when you pull it off. Mildly damaging if you don't. Kinda have to do it right as you arrive at a station when the NPC traffic is still low.
What kind of animal just logs off in space?DISCLAIMER: The following is my own personal view and interpretations pertaining to the game. Fair warning, this is intended to be a light hearted post (god knows this forum needs something funny) and I will be poking fun at myself, feel free to poke some back
Okay, today's topic is: What is your Elite Quirk, as in what little traits, superstitions or rituals do you have in the game. Here are some of mine:
(1) At the end of each session, I just can't log off. Nope, I have to make sure the ship is lowered into the Hangar (put to bed so to speak), it is fully refueled and rearmed, and the paint and integrity have been attended to so both are sitting at 100%. Yes there are times when I can't do this, either out exploring, or the station doesn't have the necessary facilities. So guess what I do, yep I will log on as soon as possible and try to get to a station to make everything 'perfect' again.
(2) I hate wasted space in the cargo hold, detest it with a passion. I would rather carry something that might cause a loss than carry nothing at all. I spend more time trying to work out which missions to take, to where, what else can I take, if it is a multi-hop run, what can I carry between stations, is there any courier missions I can grab along the way. I put it down to doing something very similar in the Military for over 30 years
(3) Although I now predominantly play in Solo, I use to do this in Open as well. I like annoying NPCs, it makes me smile. When doing missions, and I get that oh so common message 'Incoming Enemy Alert', I don't start cracking my knuckles ready for a fight. Nope, I start planning on how I am going to embarrass them, how I will beat their interdiction or how I will submit and then boost away, giving them the middle finger as I disappear into the distance. Yes I know I can easily submit, kill the curs and make come credits but no, I prefer the thought that there are some NPCs just utterly peed off with me, shaking their fists at me as yet again I foil their plans
(4) My fleet has to have purpose. I won't buy a ship if I don't have a use for it or can't think of a good future use. I like using ships in ways not normally though of for that ship. For example, my FdL is now related to running those small chain missions and courier mission. My Krait Mk II is now and will only ever be my miner. I just go rid of my slightly modified Sidewinder that I was using as a taxi because now my AspX fills that roll (it was either the Sidewinder or the AspX, one of them was going lol).
Okay, think I have embarrassed myself enough for now![]()
The kind that has a 5 year old who likes to wake up at midnight requesting a glass of water, and who also can't sleep and would really like it if dad would also like to hang out with them for a while because the shadows made by the trees on the wall look like monsters. What kind of animal just logs off in space?
That's not a quirk. That's just being sensible and prioritizing fun over earnings.I mine for the fun of it and dont worry about how much i'll earn.
