What joystick/controller do you use?

What you really need is a set of these...

Anybody using the GXT 555? I used it before the T-Flight, and it was also quite good. But in my opinion didn't have enough buttons and lacked that extra axis. The throttle was a bit too small and it was hard to find the neutral position. Currently my backup joystick.
 
Still my old Logitech F710, I think it is, with custom bindings. I prefer the even older Logitech Wireless RumblePad 2 as it has the old style square analog stick holes for full throws in the corners (the new controllers with the round holes don't allow for full roll and pitch, etc., at the same time), but it stopped talking to its receiver a while back, and I haven't been able to get it to connect since.

I have keyboard and mouse for backup and sometimes use them for menu navigation.

Had a Saitek X52 and a Logitech X56 prior to these. Never again.

I use the three front buttons on the throttle as shift buttons which gives around 124 combinations for throttle and stick. My only problem is remembering them all.
 
For me, a t-flight I picked up 2nd hand at CEX for a pittance, my old trusty Nostromo N52te speedpad and my keyboard / mouse

Been experimenting with adding a tablet, but that's not worked out to well due to various issues...

Did you try the holding button down while inserting battery trick for pairing pad and receiver? Can't remember which button, I will look tonight if you want.
 
Anyone using a racing wheel, Yoke controller or even that farming simulator tractor wheel?

If so how do you find it?

I started out in the SRV with my G27. It was novel at first but dodging the rocks soon became very tiring.
Not to mention the terrible fake FFB from the driver.

I switched steering to my joystick twist and haven't looked back. Forward / reverse throttle is with my TWCS paddles.

VR User - Was using a Thrustmaster HOTAS Warthog until one of the HATs started to fail - now using a Logitech/Saitek X56.

I like the greater number of analogue axis on the X56 but preferred the selection of digital switches on the Warthog set. Learning to adapt and in some ways beginning to prefer the X56 but I will miss my Warthog (probably will find it hard to go back to it after I have finally adapted to the X56).
 
TWCS throttle, because of the many thumb HATs and analog thruster stick under the index finger.

I went through two T16K before dropping them entirely. I bought an X56 and I adore the stick, but hate the throttle. So I paired the wonderful and precise X56 stick with the TWCS.
 
Im PC master race, But when it comes to first person gaming im all about the controller and my ability to rest a bowl of cheesy wotsits on my belly.
This, this individual gets it! the biggest benefit to consoles and controllers in general lmao.

To actually answer the thread though, I used a Mouse and Keyboard for about 4 years and I only very recently (as of yesterday from this post) got my X52 Pro, it's kinda wild though, I was so efficient at the M&KB that people thought I was using a HOTAS, and when I finally get one, I'm terrified to fly my Corvette given how abysmal I fly a Krait atm. Lol.

Full CH set here. I started out with a Logitech 3D Pro. Then I wanted a throttle, so bought the CH, as that was the only standalone one on the market at that time. That thing is fantastic in ED, especially with the analog thumbstick to control thrusters. Then I wanted more buttons, so added the CH fighterstick to the mix. Losing twist that way, the pedals became a necessity. Never regretted that move. Stick precision went up a lot with no longer having to yank it sideways to yaw, and the pedals are fantastic to drive the SRV with. What I particularly like is how short the stick is compared to a Warthog or Virpil.
 
Here you go. Actually I found that due to the extra thickness of the Teflon sheet the tensioning bar was not needed and the friction can be adjusted by tightening the retaining strip screws +/- finger tight.

ps. note the makeshift Teflon strain relief loop securing the USB cable in the top-right of the first photo. Do this first otherwise the weakly soldered wires may come away while you are disassembling and fitting.

I bought a 100mm x 100mm teflon sheet (£1.84 :)), cut them out and added them to my old throttle last night. The old throttle was well lubricated but a bit sticky (resistance to start moving) and the teflon improved that stiction significantly. I found the stiction was worse moving forward and about what I wanted moving back, which is probably down to variance in how tightly I screwed the three screws on each side down. I left the tension bar in place too so it may be that moving, I'll experiment with it to see if I can fine tune it to be just how I want.

So a significant improvement for minimal cost & in a non-destructive way too :D

I bought a replacement throttle that doesn't have the flickery analogue axies, it worked well for about 24 hours before sticktion became so high that fine control was impossible but I haven't opened it up yet.
 
Nice one. I would use the word "dramatic" rather than "significant" in my case. My throttle went from juddery and sticky (new out the box) to smooth as silk and has remained so for a year now.

Try removing the middle of the three screws on each retaining plate. Also, don't overdo the amount of grease. Teflon has, according to Wiki, the third lowest coefficient of friction of any solid. Mine is adjusted to be fairly loose - the throttle body slides easily under its own weight if I tilt the unit 60 degrees or so.

Surprised Thrustmaster don't do this themselves. It is not exactly expensive.
