What Makes You Break Immersion?

As the devs consider which QoL features will be worked on post-2.4, it made me wonder what things cause you to leave the game (break immersion). If we can outline why we leave the game, or how the game fails to meet our needs, then they should be able to fill those gaps with their oompa-loompa magic.

I know that I go to EDDB (trade, ship / module location and station info), coriolis.edcd.io (ship builds and mods) and inara.cz (Engineer info and commodities/materials) quite often.

The other obvious question is should Frontier try to replicate those functions in-game or leave it with third party devs to handle so they can focus on other core gameplay aspects?

Ship transfer.

As for those functions i definitely think that FD should either add some in game method or create an app for it.

I don't think they will be replicating functions handle by third parties.

I think 2.5 will be more about filling out existing functionality on individual features, connecting things up more, for example bringing the capability to search for crew in multicrew over to the wing system.

Add more options and features to multicrew. Giving us more sensors types an more exploration tools, a big working of exploration I feel is in the works.

I would love to see the option to join a local fraction implemented in game.
Allowing multicrew to control SRV.

An my mind gone blank for now but there a lot of things that are silo into their own seperate part of the game at the minute that really could be better integrated into the rest of the game and this alone would much improve the game.

I also believe a big part of 2.5 will probably involve tidying up the game code.

Having Galnet visible whilst flying, or even better having it read out to you, like a news bulletin, would be great. As would Playgroup/Guild comms.

All I hope FD will do is to improve the API a lot, so the third party sites can integrate themselves better.
Actually, this tied into screen overlays onto the HUD would be a decent idea. Then the player could choose what info they wanted on screen.

I like the idea of being able to use tools like EDDB from within the game, honestly this sort of thing should be a part of the game and it seems like FD is just allowing third parties to do it so they don't have to. That's fine, but give us an in-game window for this. After all, sharing this sort of information is exactly what the Pilot's Federation is supposed to be for. It doesn't have to be part of the in-ship interface, just adding it to the station/outpost interface when you're docked would be fine.

I'd also like to be able to access the details about my ships in-game without having to go to the station where they're stored and enter the outfitting screen.

Galnet radio would be awesome.

deep mental involvement.

---

Having to pee, power failures, the doorbell, the security system alerting (it's the cat, it's always the cat, but I still have to look, in case it isn't), my wife, my kid, the dog.. pretty much any of the things that draw my attention away from what I'm doing, otherwise, I get pretty deeply mentally involved, and game mechanics or even looking over at another monitor don't phase me - in fact, they feel rather integrated to me. Perhaps it was all the time spent at the Fort Bragg Goat Lab.. or just innate superior ability to concentrate, but I don't disturb easily.

That already exists, check out EDDI, optionally with voice attack integration and an Ivona voice. It has become unthinkable for me to fly without.

External sites have no impact on my immersion at all.

It's inconsistencies within the Game universe that does it for me.
Lack of persistence in NPCs and structures.
And stupid names etc from other people.

All that tasty cargo.

Its ok hearing it now and then, but the same line repeated 4 times in every system while taking passengers on a whistle stop of the bubble? It gets a bit predictable fer want of a better word.

I dont use any out of game resources because thats the ultimate immersion breaker...honestly I couldnt even tell ye what they called, or what they used fer. If its not in the game or some tidbit I pick up in the forums, it literally doesnt exist in my game ^

Oh and the casino rngeers...I am using them now but I just dont really get them...doesnt make sense genuine engineers using luck. Still cant that one.

Repeat messages in chat. Ridiculous NPC names.
The never ending reminder that this is a limited virtual world brought on by the utter non-functionality of many mechanics and game systems (multi-crew).
