What other games are we all playing?

I recently started playing Starbase again. For some reason it seems loads better. Really loving it. I just lost 75 hours in it over the last couple of weeks or so.
I think it just clicked for me.

Ahh, still the Rimworld. After concluding a full Arcotech playthrough (with cheating), I'm gonna do one with a settling colony. Might relocate the peeps in another map at some point. Deactivated the mechhive.

I said I would never do it but I've decided to give Fallout 76 a try. It's 100% free if you have Amazon prime. It's through Amazon Gaming and it's from the MS store. They're also having a free 4 day trial on steam were it's on sale for $10. Since it was free I got one month FO1st to get the extra gear and private server. Anyway I've been playing all day today and I've had a good time. Just trying to find my way around and figure out a good spot to set up camp. I'm liking the survival part but I wish they would add sleep to your needs. I'm also really liking the environment. I've played FO3, FONV, FO4 and this one IMO is the best looking one. Not really sure about the "story" yet since I've only finished a couple main story quests. But I don't really play FO for the story anyway.

Sleep gives you an XP buff (5%) for a limited time in game. Different beds and ally states can extent the time.

Bannerlorded a new playthrough. Vlandian crossbow-Fian mix. Once you've tasted the sweetness of Fian it's hard to let go. They reworked the smithing recipe acquisition. It's even longer and tedious now - all recipes are unlocked only by smithing in the right category. Polearm mastery now doesn't unlock any dagger recipes. I just cheat high tier items into inventory for smelting and ignore that crap. I tried legit - it just isn't fun.

The Rimatomics Rimworld is kinda endgame now. I'm just figuring out how to get plutonium. Reduced the fuel rods in the breeder reactor and put it online clocking nine times faster, hotter, stronga. My guess is you need to deplete the rods and you get processable used rod. So I hotten them up and reduced their number in hope of depleting them faster. So far no luck. Maybe I should just try out clocking at 100% - I mean what could go wrong?
Also put online the scrambler that prevents air drops on the colony (Rimatomics) - I had deactivated the mechanites though. Now and then the insects spawn and I farm the jelly. Is good cash to pay with.
Cass likes to give me the 40x30 construction quests. I ignore them.

Just started playing Rimworld last week. I expected it to be good.

I didn't expect it to be "I'll play for a bit while eating breakfast... WHAT THE? I'm late for work and I didn't even eat breakfast? HOW???" fantastic. This morning, some of my people staged a daring rescue of the wife of my miner (and artist) from slavery of nearby pirates. It was sadly delayed by a nearby crash of a "psychic engine of destruction" that included half a dozen mechanized infantry, which tore up my people when they responded.

Once my first Rimworld game is “completed,” I may give No Man's Sky another spin. It looks like they addressed most of my major issues with the game in their most recent update, aside from the lousy flight model, and I'm curious to see how it plays now.

In a couple of weeks a new DLC is due for the Rimworld. Looks like heavy gameplay content. Mechs, pollution, children, genetics.

I am preparing to play "Five Parsecs from Home", but I have to paint some 15mm figures (from Ground Zero Games) first. Managed to paint 8 yesterday in-between playing Elite (long APEX journeys come in handy) and hope to do another 20 in the next couple of days. I will be able to use the figures for other rule sets.

Gosh, this is one thing I never thought of doing whilst in supercruise!

I have heard good things about 5PFH, and at some point I was tempted to try it, especially when I couldn't go to my tabletop club, now I have about 30 years of miniatures lying around, and an urge to throw some dice...

I keep getting drawn back to modded versions of Stalker. Having completed it with misery and anomaly mods multiple times I'm now playing with the GAMMA mod for anomaly.

This adds a massive amount of tweaks on top of anomaly and transforms the game. it was a nightmare to install though, The installer downloads individual mods from moddb and some of the downloads would fail each time

I recently upgraded to (I had no choice in the matter) Overwatch Odyssey (I mean Overwatch 2), and my first impressions are not that great. It's basically original Overwatch with some graphical and gameplay changes. It feels more like Apex Legends or one of its clones than Overwatch. I can't put my finger on what I specifically don't like, but overall I prefer the look and feel of the original over this "upgrade". Maybe I'll get used to it over time, but it frustrates me when a company changes their unique game to look and feel like every other generic game in the genre. It's like 80s hair - everyone "has" to do it whether it's a good idea or not.

At least Frontier lets me play the older version of Horizons. OG Overwatch is dead now, so it's Overwatch 2 or nothing.

Stranded went in EA. Is kinda up my alley but I think it might not be enough meat right now. A 3D Rimworld take is interesting though. I just think these games resorted ti 2D to get the gameplay sorted and have enough on the slab.

Oh oh. Look out Giants Software. Snowrunner just stealth invaded your domain....

What I love about this dev is how well they're willing to listen to their fanbase. And actually implement 99% of what the fanbase has begged them to add by means of content to this amazing driving sim. As a result, with the Grand Harvest DLC expansion, Snowrunner has matured from its ETS2 infancy of delivering-goods-under-conditions-where-no-one-else-can to the next level. The level of diversity offered in the Year 2 season pass DLC is completely underrated to date IMO.

With this latest groundbreaking DLC addition to the amazing Year 2 pass, you get the ability to rescue and reclaim an abandoned farm. Undo the damages rendered to soil nutrients, over farming, and environment from previously poor agricultural management practices. Implement sustainable green farming practices to restore it and make it flourish.

Still love ETS2 and FarmSim 22. But always craved the option to marry these two amazing simulation experiences into a lightweight Sims like driving/farm simulator. Finally get the opportunity to do so with this latest DLC. 🥰 Snowrunner is fast becoming the go to driving sim DLC for me.

I really hope Giant will consider adding ETS2/Snowrunner elements in the franchise in the near future. They're so many opportunities for my virtual farmer to make money during those winter months if I don't want to take up farming activities. The fact Farming Sim 22 already has seasonal game mechanic would make it perfect for lightweight ETS2 trucking and Snowrunner extreme enterprise activities. Especially if you got the option to keep/repurpose any farming/support vehicles you rescue and restore for future farming.

Imagine an ETS2 scope game world filled with a diverse makeup of arable farming plots, Snowrunner extraction gigs, and ETS2 trucking missions. From the UK, Scandinavia, to the Iberian Peninnusla and Turkey. A gigantic Google realism map that would give MS Flight Sim a run for its money. A global level of interactivity where you could start off as a lowly trucker or farmer. Being able to exploit Snowrunner gigs to make additional money especially during the winter season. Save enough to buy your first farm/truck and hire NPC personnel. Use your truck fleet convoy to move your Farm Sim 22 harvestables between markets in countries all over the EU and UK.

Be able to explore the map through ETS2 trucking and/or working Snowrunner type gigs to unlock more farm tracks/trucking delivery missions. All while growing and expanding both sides of your global convoy/farming enterprise. And having the ability to hire other players beside NPCs as Snowrunner, ETS2 and Farm Sim 22 all now have capabilities for MMO play. IMO, that would be the ideal farming-driving sim of all time.

And while this is likely not going to become a reality, I'll contend myself playing all 3 until Starfield drops. While drooling dreaming about designs of the farming/ship trucking/NPC settlement space mods my SF game play is going to need next Spring 😍
