What ships do you have and why?

I'm curious as to what ships other people keep and whether they use them, and if so for what purpose.

I've played the game from the start and have three ships:

Asp Explorer (A Class fitted):

My mission runner because of the good jump range, also for checking out far out USSs that have very rare mats, and doing engineer runs for modules it has the right sized internal compartments for. Recently bought another one which I fitted purely for long distance exploration and did the 5000 lyr from start for Prof Palin requirement. Was going to keep it, but I'm not a fan of exploration. It's fun for a bit but takes way too long to scan and the money is just plain terrible for time invested.

A few low level mods, but have Increased FSD range, grade 5. May mod this to the hilt, as I'm tired of running away from interdictions from high ranked combat ships.

FDL (A Class fitted):

My only combat ship. I like the FDL and it handles Haz Res and conflict zones very well once modded up, but still is a bit too sluggish in the agility department for my tastes. I miss the Vulture and FAS for this reason. I prefer shield tanking and have been thinking of modding up a Vulture as a second combat ship to get that dogfight feeling back.

My FDL is modded to the hilt with mostly grade 5 mods. With 1850 shield strength class 4A SCBs are pretty much useless, but I still carry one to top up outside of combat, but really could get rid of it and not really notice. Would like to get overcharged mod for my class 4 MC, but those modified embedded firmware are hard to get.

Anaconda (A class fitted - except power plant):

A recent purchase for bulk trading, mining and future CGIs. Not too sure about this in combat, with all turrets for mining it can take any small and non combat medium ships on, but more than that it's time to get out of there. To get a proper combat fit would be very expensive, but I'm not sure if the money invested would be worth it since I have a FDL anyway.

No mods on except some left over lower grade SBs from my early mod attempts.

Corvette (Don't have):

I would love to get the Corvette for hardcore content like high sec bases + some assassination missions, and replace the anaconda but I'm 3 ranks away in fed, and it way too hard to rank up now.

Eagle Mk. II!

It was my first combat ship so I want to get the Elite combat rank flying one, 38% to go!

Sidewinder - for old times' sake
Hauler - old taxi
Eagle - for old times' sake
Viper Mk III - ditto
Viper Mk IV - small and swift tank, rarely used
Cobra Mk III - from Beta in 2014. Kept for old times' sake.
Imperial Eagle - part my of Imperial collection
Imperial Courier - ditto
Imperial Clipper - ditto
Imperial Cutter - dedicated tradeship
Federal Assault Ship - tank, less used after I got my Python
Federal Gunship - part of my Federal collection
Federal Dropship - ditto
Asp Explorer - dedicated armed and shielded exploration vessel
Vulture - old tank
Python - my go-to tank/all-around ship
Anaconda - larger but slower mission-runner/tank

I used a Viper to get a Cobra, Cobra to get an AspX then as I was aiming for an Imp Clipper I saw a knew way of doing things and went Python > Lakon T9 > Cutter (sold the T9) > Fed Corvette.

I still own all but the T9, which a fantastic cash cow but redundant when you have the Cutter.

Python was my first Combat Zone agitator and long distance trader, I'll re-purpose it for general use I think.
Cutter is my untouchable cash cow, if I'm interdicted I can kill it or run no problems
Corvette will be my new CZ killer, yet to upgrade it
AspX is my scout for new opportunities and discoveries

not sure what to do with the Sidey, Cobra 3 & 4 or the Viper I think they will be more useful once ship transport comes in

yet to experience the FDL and Anaconda though they are on my future shopping list

Viper MK3 - Nostalgia
Cobra MK3 - Landing, smuggling, light fighting, deliveries
Viper MK4 - Landing, ground based missions, light interdiction, minor faction support
Cobra MK4 - Light Mining and materials gathering
DBE - Landing, engineers module carrier, small long range deliveries
T6 - Deliveries up to 80 Tonnes done fast and safe
iCourier - Interdictor/Bounty hunter
Vulture - HAZ Res parasite
AspE - no self respecting fleet goes without this
FAS - Combat vs both pve and some PVP (heat meta and engies severely limit its usefulness but still love it)
iClipper - CG Open delivery hauler extraordinaire
Python - because some things can only be done in a Python (seriously).

Eagle - For the sake of fun and good old times
Diamondback Scout - For combat/exploration crossover duty
Imp. Courier - For fast fighting experience, replaced my Viper MkIII

Federal Dropship - Mining and everything else for engineers
Federal Assault ship - Combat

Federal Gunship - Piracy and everything
The Gunship is no choice, it is life.

fCorrvette - main combat ship
Cutter - trade ship - rarely used..do not like trade much
Conda 1 - exploration ship 1
Conda 2 - mining - rarely used..lately only for eng mats
Conda 3 - Combat and landing on planets SRv missions
Python - Combat and landing on planets SRv missions, very rarely outpost missions.
ASP - exploration ship 2
FDL - not used due stupid eng com limits :(
and lot of small ships (haulers, Sides) as markers on map from time before bookmarks was added in the game..

AspX - BECAUSE I HAVE WANTED ONE FOR THIRTY YEARS AND ISN'T THAT REASON ENOUGH?!

(And some other stuff: Maxxed out FDL for killing big stuff, Tradeconda, Courier interceptor for cheap fights and low level flying, clipper for the bling, Python for missions, spare Asp dedicated explorer, Cobra 3 for old time's sake.)

DBE. strictly for the feeling it gives me, the fun of making a weak ship strong with engineering, and its large mc.

python. can do it all. mobile living room.

cobra mkiii. best ship in game.

courier, if need for speed.

dbs. my preferred cz ship.

explonda. for every tour >10 k ly (below that i take my dbe)

trutter. trade in style. i will nevertheless sell it if something with more cargo comes along.

clipper for mining. spawn rules around mining are silly, laigh at npc when boosting away.

AspE. i have sold and rebought one to often. looks as if there is a reason to have one.

___

in 2.2. i will reoutfit and engineer my FDL and my eagle. shiptransfer should counter the effect, that they are never there, when you want them. i will outfit a carrier keelback. a true q-ship then - no space for cargo. and i will reoutfit my orca.

Eagle that was part of the mercenary edition. Never too k it out so it might have a lot of dust on it.

Viper mk IV that frontier gave to people taking part on the last Christmas CG. Never went to get it.

Vulture for combat

Clipper because its nice ship but haven't used it in last 10 months.

Asp explorer. Good jump range and i use it to gather materials and do missions.

Python for missions and doing little more challenging stuff what asp can't do.

Anaconda for trading, cg etc.

I have rank for corvette and working for rank to get cutter.

You will enjoy the faster drives for sure if you are a Cobra III die hard. Even grade one dirty drives can be a big improvement.

i have pre 2.1.05 L5 dirty drives on mine (~23℅ boost), and the cobra mkiii especially gains a lot for its lowish straight line speed and manouverability (for boosting away, it doesn't play a role really whether you do that with 470 or 512 m/s...).

also nice, compared to my lightweight courier with high performance thrusters, which i expected to fly much more often: the cobra mkiii doesn't react that much to additional weight from cargo, srv bay etc. basically it is once again my preferred mission runner!

Modified Cobra for getting around the bubble.
AspX for "quick" Jaques runs.
One Python serves as my main mining platform.
Second Python I equipped for outpost trading (Considering buying a third for a combat build).
FDL for bounty hunting, etc.
Anaconda for bulk trading, I mostly take it out during CG's.
Imp courier... for peaceful Sunday drives.

I've only got one ship and that's the way this play is staying..

Single ship currently in a no-combat career.

Currently in a Cobra Mk III but probably gonna swap her out today for a T6 on my way up to a AspE...or maybe back to a A-rated Mk III.
Ultimate stop will be a Python. Or so goes my current plan. Got months to worry about it....and the Thargoids may have something to say in the matter.

Cobra MkIII - quick fetch missions, smuggling missions and low amounts of cargo transfer if the reward materials are good.

Imp. Eagle (midnight black) - For courier missions, in-bubble exploration, especially if I want to roleplay and prospect markets myself.

AspX - For the occasional rare trading CGs and for exploration when I don't want to take my Conda, especially if she is trade fit at that moment. I don't like to keep two of the same hull for some reason and outfit often.

FAS - Main dedicated combat ship, for BH and CZs, also combat CGs. I'm in love with it for some reason. It's definitely not the most powerful ship in the game but something about it speaks to me and we get along well. I've never been killed in an FAS.

Anaconda - for bulk trading and long range exploring. This is my primary exploration ship which can be fit for trading on a whim if I feel like it having returned from a distant trip.

Edit: None of my ships have engineer mods on them since I've been out with my conda since 2.1 hit. Engineer mods were too time consuming back then and I was happy, doing Haz-RES runs with the unmodded FAS feeling the hazard for the first time in my ED career. Then they started to give indications they would nerf the AI again (exactly 4 days after 2.1 launched) and I got upset and sent myself to exile in to the black. Now I'm returning though because I feel it's time.
