What teensy tiny things would you like to see changed in ED?

Totally agree; except it doesn't really work multi-player. or in a live-time galaxy.

We should be able to haggle time-lines on missions - bargain for an extension or something.

For instance, I took on a mission to massacre 60 faction ships in a civil war.

I got 28 of them, had to go to bed. Had to go to work, figured I had an hour left the next day (which I did). But there were no conflict zones available for the final hour. I lost the mission and my reputation and yet:
1) My faction won the war (before the mission was up)
2) I helped destroy lots of the enemy and did my bit

I'm fine not getting paid, didn't meet the contract, but that's just plain ungrateful. I think I'll go to way against my allied faction now...

But wouldn't it be better that I could have had a negotiation? Pay for an extension (or take a cut to get one) or get them to admit that I couldn't deliver BECAUSE we had been so successful?

As I keep saying....."call in favours". Sacrifice reputation in order to haggle over time and/or payouts. Not sure how that might work for passengers though. Maybe laid-back passengers yes, but time sensitive passengers there can be no change.

When I'm exiting the system map the thick line that shows I've selected my destination for the StarNav vanishes before the map quits. It always makes me think that I've deselected my destination.

I would very much like a clearer way to examine and understand proposed engineering rolls before applying them. At a certain point, it's not always clear if an upgrade will actually be an upgrade, and relying on external tools of a poor solution to the problem.

Tell me how much a value is going to change my FSD range or how light my ship will be or how much faster it is to boost and pitch. Tell me when I'm deciding whether or not to commit to an upgrade or to reroll or to keep what I have.

I want my SRV headlights to NOT automatically turn on every time I deploy it. I land on the day side only, except for during missions, so there's no need for them. I'd rather not be subjected to Europe's obsessive automotive safety regulations in a videogame.

A lot of the things that annoy me can be categorized as "Lacking Information" and/or "Hidden Information." RNGineering results fall under both in my book.

On the other hand, I can only categorize things like this after having played the game to the point that I understood what information is available, once I found it, or what information I could only get from an out-of-game source. The devs have now seen their work of art being used in ways they didn't anticipate. They've had more time to play it, as well. They hopefully play enough like us non-FDev devs to see these thing too. One can hope, especially now that [was it Dom?] knows a Python can't equip a SLF bay. [haha]

So I add this to my prior shopping list. Thanks for reminding me. I need to write them down while I'm playing since that's when I'm most often reminded of them. [mad]

And turn OFF my ship's lights when I jump to SC. Let's just say we want more things to be set to a default state of our choosing. More options = happier pilot (at least for this one)

THIS. C'mon, FDev, most modern cars know not to leave the lights on when they're not needed, why can't a state-of-the-art spacecraft do the same thing 1286 years in the future?

  • Update Galnet in a timely way, so that it stops being "last month's newspaper that you fed the cat on".
  • Get all the procedural "state" articles off Galnet (they actually consulted us on this, the community told them to get rid of it, nothing was done). It just dilutes the few bits of useful content actually in there.

Bigger ask: Something something rust something something storyline something something glaciers. You've heard it already.

I'd like to see an option to hide objects that are beyond scanner range, or make them fade out based on distance. I often find the scanner to be a cluttered mess of planets, stars and vertical lines, when most of them are so far that it's just useless information. Also make sure that objects on scanner don't obscure heat or speed indicators.

@Agony_Aunt --->>> collate best ideas in OP :)

...
- Stealth Shields to make us invisible(ok, joke, we already have Solo :D )

Actually, a smartly implemented stealth module could be quite interesting. Make it so:

-You can't boost, or the stealth field disintegrates.
-Need to keep heat down below a certain point
-shield must be down
-deploying hardpoints cancels stealth field

Though, I guess this isn't a small thing.

I wish it wouldn't say "align with ship trajectory" when I'm targeting a station or system. Really, just make it say "align with destination (or target)" for everything.

You mean, like how outfitting works? Wow, why would anyone want that? surely, you want to work it out with pen, paper, and maths?

Would I be weird if I said I'd like ship navigation/strobe lights, like what aeroplanes had back on earth in the late 20th, early 21st centuary? Make 'em toggleable like the main headlights are.

I think this might just about count as a small thing.

Oh oh, and a decal that says "My other ship is an Anaconda" that I can pop on the back of my sidewinder? ? I'll pay real dollar dollar bills an everything :)

Stop the 'cargo collected' notification from blocking the scanner.

+10000 to this

Make the engine blooms of other ships in SC less blinding and less obnoxious in general
Stop NPC polots from flying like they are drunk in SC
leave the "Slow Down" message, but ACTUALLY LET US SLOW DOWN when it pops up rather than firewalling the engine until we turn away from the target

I've said it before and will say it again. Waypoints for navigation. Set waypoints, plot route (Eve Online spoiled me). But that is a bigger thing.

When picking a mission or accessing from the transactions tab and opening the galaxy map autoselect the destination on the galaxy map so I can just route plan, rather than have to manually enter the system name. I play on a TV in the main lounge so I have to grab the keyboard and note down the system name.

I think this is a pc bug as it works properly on Xbox.

I would like to be able to see my nav panel while my fsd is charging to see if there's anything worth checking out in the system I'm passing through.

Some more:

Make asteroid clusters visible in SC. So that I can go around them and not get slowed down without an apparent reason.

When selecting a planetary base, display its position on the planet hologram - to make it clear whether I will have to navigate around the planet (at longer distance than the current HUD indication).

Get rid of the "DeLacy Uplink" message displayed above the keyboard in my Lakon Spaceways ship :)

A ahem couple teenie tiinie things from me:

- Removal (or large increase) of Material/Data/Storage/Bookmarks capacity.
- Avatar/char animations to match HOTAS mapping in cockpit.
- SLOW DOWN message to be reworded to something less confusing.
- Enable the ship panels in Hypercruise.
- Raise the height a little bit so you don't hit when returning in my SRV to my Asp. :p
- Docking computer to work properly in the Cutter.
- Mileage on ships
- See Engineer Blueprints remotely.
- HUD colour changes integrated into the game.
- Cockpit web browser for integrated use of 3rd party sights.
- More music selections/variety (& perhaps a basic built-in mp3/stream player?).
- Clipping to be removed from ships in Camera mode (I want to get up close!).
- Coordinate plotting/bookmarking on the surface of a planet.
- Steam Achievements/Cards.
- More radio chatter/activity away from stations.
- Criminal 'Wrap' Sheet to make a return (record of your illegal activity & charges).
- Ability to save custom camera views between sessions.
- Ability to save multiple HoloMe configurations.
- Ability for HoloMe to smile :)
- Dark square patches on textures on planets to be fixed.
- NPCs in spare cockpit seats.
- Ability to flag materials I am trying to find & flag those I am not wanting.
- Second CMDR slot.
- Ability to map the SRV & Ship Camera toggle buttons to the same button.
- Visual overlay for shipping lanes
- Dark side of planets to be darker
- Join/wait in CQC queue from inside main game.
- Ability to turn off extra Fuel Tanks
- A Scope/Zoom function accessible from the cockpit, perhaps with scanners.
- Better longer range spotlights
- For mission boards to spawn lots more missions or automatically regenerate quickly without logging.
- New mapping option to allow side panels to only show when holding down a button (to allow them to still display on headlook, but only if triggered to prevent them popping up when sightseeing)
- To see if I have visited a station before (and perhaps the last actions taken there).
- More misty/foggy places to get lost in.
- Ability to crash into a planet etc from SC if I am going too fast.
- For the main station services panel to default to the repair section when scrolling to the side with HOTAS/Controller (instead of HoloMe that is used less regularly).
- More indepth stats to track CMDR progress & experience.

"That'll do Pig, that'll do" :p
