WHAT THE... modules LOST?!

I just bought a new FSD (for another ship) to get engineered by Farseer and the only way to do it is mounting it on my current ship.
I did that, and the old GOLD engineered grade 5 FSD module, which I spent days on, got LOST because my module storage is full at 60/60.
NOT A SINGLE WARNING MESSAGE
NOT A SINGLE "you can't do it"
NOTHING telling me "hey if you buy this class 3 module we'll throw the other one in the drain".

Devs, are you serious?

[down][down][down]

I also tried "buy back sold items" after emptying a couple of slots in the storage.
I asked the old FSD to be stored.
Something sent me out of the outfitting lab and now the old FSD is NOT in the storage!!!

When the storage is full you only get presented with the 'exchange module' option. There is nothing to warn about. If you dont have the option to store, you need to empty space and you'll get the option. When you click the exchange option, it will be exchanged as you requested.

WRONG.
It states only "Purchase selected item and fit it in the slot".
Very different than EXCHANGE | "Sell old module" or STORE | "Put old module to storage"

Don't talk without knowing please.

I am an idiot. Let it henceforth be known.

Dude, it tells you exactly you will sell it, and even how much you'll get for it. Maybe less exclamation marks, ALL CAPITALS and frowny faces and more reading!!!![down]
No man, you get the same window also in the next screen, where the STORE option is selected. That is just telling you the difference between the two IF you sell it. Not that you are gonna sell it. Quite different.

By the way, there's clearly a bug, because buying back the old module doesn't bring it back, despite the storage has room for it.

So the guy did something we all do at times, clicking through menus without reading them too carefully, and it cost him a super engineered FSD. If I did something like that I'd still be angry at the UI, even though I knew it was really me to blame.

I'd still contact FD support, they might decide to help, and there's always the possibility that this actually is a bug rather than what it almost definitely is, the kind of moment of fatal carelessness we've probably all done to ourselves at least once.

An extra window warning that you're about to sell an engineered module wouldn't be entirely inappropriate as a remedy for this kind of thing. It wouldn't be a cure all, but an extra chance to realize what you're doing and back out is probably appropriate and might save some people.

Well, wouldn't you know! This screenshot is what you get when you do have space:

You are correct. The first screeny I posted should have stated the negative cost of the old module, and is factually wrong as it claims you will need to pay whereas you don't. Currently the cost presented when you dont have space is identical to the store option if you do have space. Clearly incorrect.

My sincere apologies, you may scold me now and hit my bottom with a wooden cane.
