What type of controller will you be using for Elite Dangerous

Nobody?

CH products have a very good reputation. I have never used one but I know they are a great piece of kit.

The price of the throttle seems to have gone up a lot. I wonder if it's an updated version. Online reviews talk a obout 90 dollars, but it seems to be going for 150 euros over here. That is about double.

Yeah I noticed that too when I bought mine last week. I had been considering it last year when I got my combatstick and pedals but decided to put it off. £129 here seems to be about the average now in the UK. I found one for £109 in the end but its still a lot more than it used to be.

All the CH products are solid, they don't look fancy but they're really well made and will last years.

Is anybody using a CH throttle? Unlike most, they seem to sell them separately. It looks like a decent piece of kit.

Aye, picked one up last week. Apart from the fact all my other kit was CH I also bought it as its purchasable separately and didn't really want to replace my existing stick just to get a throttle.

Great piece of kit so far. Simple to set up. Enough switches on it to cover most stuff without being silly like some of the throttles. Three 4 way switches, an 8 way pov, a mini analog stick and three finger buttons. One of the switches isn't very practical IMO but that's OK as there are enough for me everywhere else anyway.

Took me about an hour to get used to using it instead of the little throttle on the stick that I've been using for years. Now can't imagine not having it.

X52 or X52 pro?
I can get the pro for $133 delivered to my US address and pickup when I am over there in a couple of weeks.

Is there much difference?

Thanks mate! Your review is very encouraging. Any idea on what caused the price-hike?

Don't get a x52 or x52 pro if you only have usb3 on your computer. X52 and x52 pro don't work with usb3. Installation is hell.

I plan to be using the Sixense STEM system. Each controller has 6 dof plus plus analog stick plus analog trigger. More than enough to control 2 ships at once :)

Then I plan on dualboxing and controlling 2 ships - one with each controller. I hope I can setup the screen for my rift so that I can see the one ship with the left eye and the other with the right eye. I figure after a few months my brain will rewire and I'll be able to fly real cool combos

I also Kickstarted the STEM system, for the full setup with all STEMs. I don't believe this will be the best game for it though as it wouldn't really replace the HOTAS. But it will be great for some games I'm sure.

Currently making use of an Xbox360 controller. Starting off was rough, but now, after much practice, getting the hang of things nicely.

I am tempted by a X52 or similar. But, for now, I cannot justify the spend personally.

Have any Alpha testers had any success with a Saitek FLY 5? The one I'm trying to use one with Windows 7 doesn't seem to work even though I've selected it in Options. The stick does work if I choose custom though. Any clues anyone?

Being a lazy sort of git, I don't really want to set up all of the settings by hand!

I am using the thrustmaster T-Flight Hotas X.

And I like it, although for some reason I had to use the filightmaster Warthog settings to get it working and then I adjusted some of them and it seems working great now.

Now just need to practice loads, but it is loads of fun.

I don't think ED will be very playable just using the mouse/keyboard, so I'm on board with a controller first, then a joystick if that doesnt feel right.
