It was a lot more arduous than in that video for me to actually get playing though. No shift-break to load from disk in our house to start with. For the first few years it was strictly CH."" and listen to 5 minutes of screeching.

I met Jeff Minter years ago at a computer fair - he's a nice chap.
Wow - dim distant past. Nightflite by Hewson Consultants on the ZX Spectrum mail ordered because things hadn't caught on in the high street. Landing at night - lots of white dots to represent the run way and the lights of the town. Amazing in its day. I remember my father being impressed.
My first video game, if I recall correctly, was likely Bumble's Games for the PC, or maybe Gertrude's Secrets for same. I know that's the first home game at least. I can't quite recall if I tinkered around with some arcade cabinet or other as a wee lad.

It was an early attempt at BASIC when at school in 1980, we had to display crosshairs and use them to fire a sprite.

Yars Revenge on the Atari 2600!
This and it was terrifying, I think it came free with the computer was the reason It was my first game to play but was great anyway and I did enjoy it
