What's the next moneymaker?

Smeaton runs are about making money while doing something else (as in : not playing the game).

Personnaly I did a good game of Civ6 while doing it.

This is the funniest thing ever. Say what you want about the rest of the game, but it should never reward players for NOT PLAYING THE GAME.

The same thing it's been this entire time... and it's not trading, and it's not passengers, and I'm not saying because I had to figure it out myself and I don't want to see it nerfed.

It's not that one is not playing the game, it's just that the "game" (in the smeaton run) is best described as :

A) 20 min of clicking buttons, in a low skill version of candy crush (filling the ships)
B) 3 min of low skill piloting
C) 40 min of not doing anything
D) 3 min of low skill piloting

When the "gameplay" consist of not doing anything for 40min, can you blame people for doing "something else" ?

Keep in mind that for this "effort" one got 100M credits, which is more than 50 thargoids killed in solo, once repairs are factored in.

Please FD balance payout arround skill, not time spend whatching a screensaver.

When this thread reaches the inevitable positive conclusion (/sarcasm) if someone culd PM me and let me know what indeed the next moneymaker is that'd be smashing.Preferably something that doesn't involve engineer access or corrosion resistant cargo holds. Thanks everso.

Now haulage isn't for everyone, I'll give you that. But Smaeton runs must be the dullest way to play any game.

Can only agree. I'm not going to argue that haulage is fun (though I enjoy it well enough), but it is certainly more involving than a journey out to Smeaton Orbital! Suggesting that the latter is enjoyable, but the former tedious, simply doesn't make sense to me...

I’m more hoping for another shortcut to an Elite rank. My trade rank jumped up to 65% Tycoon (yet for some reason my Inara signature still won’t update here, despite me updating it on their site days ago) doing Smeaton runs and will likely stay there for a year now because I find conventional trading to be dull AF.

The signature thing takes more like a week to properly stabilise. No idea why and Artie said it's not on his end when I asked him a while back. As for this thread in general, who knows maybe it's already been found but if any of you find it, please keep it in tight circles. Don't want any of those (already) billionaires crying about how it "disrupts their immersion"/can't gank you anymore because you have the same ship as them.

Couldn't tell you. I've never chased the next BIG THING in CR grinding in this game. I just play the missions I enjoy doing.

With over 5.5 BILLION CR sitting in my account free to spend on anything I desire, I think my approach has been an intelligent one. ;)

The key thing here is that it doesn't make sense to "you". For some it makes sense and this latest nerf has stopped those folk from "blazing their own trail" as per usual. I know there are loads of Cmdrs out there whole love the whole "Jump, Honk, Scoop, repeat until your eyes bleed" thing, but I personally hate it, so can we nerf that next please? :D

Betas and updates can often undo previous fixes per the overlapping nature of the programming. We'll see what shows up.

Cannot see why you would favour a minority (by definition) of skilled players.
