You're one of the few so far consistently finding them, got any tips?
I'll run through my process here, as I said earlier for the most part with bacteria alone I wouldn't bother because it is time consuming, but here we go;
First I find a nearby planet with bacteria only, the location map is actually atypical for bacteria, it's usually full coverage so this may have been a different bio, but it did indeed turn out to be bacteria, I'll hide pictures with spoilers, there's a few of them;
The first thing I do is have a quick look around just in case I am lucky enough to land right near some, but no luck after circling ship I go to the SRV method. I don't know exactly what they look like yet so that's the best option. I'll just point out I landed in a flattish spot so I could do this, mountains aren't any good for hunting bacteria! I drive along slowly gently swinging from side to side but maintaining a roughly straight line until the composition scanner gives a momentary blip then back up a bit so it stays lit, that's my first sample, running the composition scanner tells me it's Bacteria Teela Green and gives me 50k credits codex reward;
So I grab my first sample and note what it looks like, it's a lighter grey patch on the yellow sand, that will help a lot as I go;
Now bacteria usually appear in clumps of a few at a time so I look around and find a couple more but they are all to close to my first sample to count.
This is what my target looks like, so I can scan visually as I drive, I need to get a bit of distance, my second target and a few others a distance away, but to close to the second to scan, so I drive on after these few, stopping every now and then to get out of the SRV at a high spot and jump as high as possible while looking around;
Now here's where I think something is going wrong, I had to drive many klms to get my third, it used to be around 300mtrs, but even at distances of a klm or more I still couldn't scan a third target, this one must be some 10klms from my first scan, you can see it in the picture. They did mention making some changes in distances for the bio scans, but I think they overdid it because this took me way longer than it should have, I needed go past several good scan candidates to get my full sample scan;
So that's how I did it, if it helps that's good!
