Where are the Chubby NPCs in ED?

I'm sorry, but I have never seen (and history too) real chubby astroauts. Otherwise, your body just will not handle it.

The existence of William Shatner demonstrates otherwise.

Most current space programs are direct descendants of military ones and, until recently, most astronauts have either been military, or have been held to similar standards. These standards have already been significantly loosened for some crew and the practical requirement for passengers are far lower.

Flight on primitive ballistic rockets is also going to be more stressful than with the sort of ships and propulsion systems available in the Elite setting. The only credible in-setting reason for there not to be fat people in space in this setting is for there not to be fat people.

I can imagine a future where obesity is no longer a thing. But no height difference between male and female? That's just weird.

I can imagine a future where both of these things are very easy to control, and, either through legal or social pressures, relatively easy to impose.

So you're saying that when a faction enters a famine state, it's because someone ate all the (space) pies?

To stay OT, I agree with OP, height & weight and other things are good to have as options for avatars. I don't see it as a priority though, but it would be a good thing.
I feel like previously, when we were all nailed to the chairs, different body types in the Holo-Me probably weren't super important. Now that we're all walking around in space suits, some height/weight sliders wouldn't be a bad new addition to the game.

But I also agree that it's a pretty low priority, and I don't mind the idea of leaving my unwanted gut out of my space fantasy.

They couldn't fit inside the blue light to get inside the ship.

Another casualty of the lack of ship interiors.
