Where are they now?

Going to the NGC 3199 Nebula situated around 15k east of the bubble hoping to tag something there.A few Cmdrs had tagged some of the main stars but then Swift Arrow must have flown in and scanned everything else, even on the nebula outskirts!

You should read my guide. Unless a bug transferred credit to someone else, i pretty much scanned all but like 2 or 3 bodies (and literally 1 other CMDR tagged stars other than me in that sector, unless again....bugs).

Personally Ive always wondered who CMDR Star Falcon was (or is?). That is a name I have seen on many nebulae but never encountered on the forums.

I remember him since he tagged all the stars in that nebula full of O type stars, I've seen some of his tags on the far side of the galaxy and he does like heavy stars.

Yeah these days you have to go quite a bit further out to find lightly scanned nebulae. A few months ago I swung through Mynaow, and was amazed at how little was tagged. I ended up tagging at least one or two things each, in over 200 systems... and then realized that I too had only scratched the surface. It's a lot easier to find untagged bodies when the nebula is far afield, and has thousands of systems in it. :D

The only nebula on which I have tags is in the BOx Nebula as I haven't visited too many nebulas.

I have a few in the Col sector with my tags on them according to that forum post that was linked earlier in this thread. One of them has 94k colonists on it. Col 285 Sector TG-Z b15-2 B 2 is one of the only planets I tagged in that system but the colonists decided my planet was the best one to settle. I probably have more tags within the bubble, just nothing else I remember or can search.

It was fun going exploring when we were let out of the Pill, finally. I might go look for old tags of mine again, from when I headed out to the Coalsack first thing. Being a Niven fan, one had to go there...

:D S

There are also those players who don't actively play, but keep an eye on the game regardless, waiting for updates - mostly the Q4 one.

I see a lot of names I recognize out in deep space. I also see a lot who are in my friends list but don't seem to play anymore. And then I too see a lot of names I've never seen before, neither in game or on the forums.

I once thought about compiling a list of commanders whose names I'd see out in deep space just to see how big a list it would be. An attempt to gauge just how many deep space explorers are really in the game, so to speak. Very much a long term kind of project.

Thats not a bad idea, I may just do that and start a list of commander names as I come across them.

As for the pioneering explorers, I started the january after release, faffed around trying to work out how to play the game for a couple of months and have been mostly exploring ever since. So you'll possibly see Sniffy tags dotted all over the place out there and I can even lay claim to a planetary nebula on the far side of the core which hadnt been tagged. :)

I'm just not active on the formums that much as it tends to get toxic, and I suspect that there may be plenty of other active players that only visit the forums infrequently.

I really wish the journal logs would record the discovery tags we come across. All sorts of cool analysis could be done after the fact, and I'm sure EDDiscovery could do some nice things with it. But alas...

Completely misread that comment, ignore me...
