Where do you call home and why?

Galouye Terminal, Obambivas.

I came across this system and station very early in my travels. The familiar green of the grass and other plant life visible through the skylight of the orbis ring was a comforting respite from the overwhelming emptiness of space. There’s nothing particularly unique or great about this system, but it has always felt like home.

As per title :) Sounds like most commanders have a favoured home where they keep most/all of their ships and modules, and I'm interested to know where and why people have settled.

For myself, I'm based in Sak Manka, an imperial system near the 'bottom' of the bubble. High tech economy means it has a broad array of modules and ships, and the coriolis station, Impey Vision (love the name) sits just 10-11ls from the star, so very fast to get to once in-system. There are some materials on local planets, but it's not the best system for farming by far. Does have an encoded material trader.

Originally came here about 7-8 weeks ago. Long story short, I was feeling guilty after doing a 'wet work' mission that had me murdering civilians - and didn't even complete properly, causing me to abandon the mission with a bounty on my head. As penance, I dedicated myself to shifting refugees out of the Apishna system, which was dealing with the aftermath of a Thargoid attack. Turned out those taxi runs were amazing money/hour even in my little Cobra, and it's a decently fast way to grind ranks with the local superpower - and I really wanted that sexy Clipper*.

So I spent several days playing taxi driver and ultimately needed somewhere nearby that I could swap ships/modules. Sak Manka filled that particular need. And Impey Vision's flight control is staffed by a gentleman with a charming Imperial accent and he makes me feel valued and respected. That there is a man who knows to order the nearest slave to prepare a pot of Fujin tea whenever my ship approaches the dock. That is proper service, and you just can't find that everywhere.

Anyway, in more recent times, Sak Manka has gone to war with Apishna (which is still repairing), with the result that both systems are full of high grade signal sources and great for grabbing imperial shields and similar materials. I don't even care who wins, since I'm allied to the relevant factions in both systems. I have no intention of picking a side or getting involved in the conflict; may the best faction win because I'm with the winners either way. Marvellous.

*I have since concluded that the Clipper isn't really good for much besides getting away from other things. Which is a useful ability, if you're a trader or miner, and not very handy for anything else. Due to the location near the outer edge of the bubble, I would be willing to re-home to another high tech system, if I found one with the same facilities plus an accessible haz res. Bonus points for being along a superpower border, extra bonus if it is near all three territories.

Great story !

Don't really have one. My garage is in Shinrarta with temporary bases elsewhere. It's cliche but home is where I hang my hat. Specifically the cabin of my ship.

Although I have some other homes from home...

New Beaumont Dock - Synuefai LX-R D5-28
Fabian City - HIP 20277
Irkutsk - Alioth

A reasonable request which i’ll politely decline. Might i suggest you visit Celaeno and judge for yourself?

That would mean logging in, which I have... actually failed to do since the weekend :(

This game's best feature is also it's biggest flaw; I can take it entirely at my own pace, and sometimes that pace is to not take it at all.

My fleet is always moving around. I call for various ships based on what I locate while out scouting. Right now I am in Vanawa mining void opals. The station is really close to the ring (not the sell point however) which has multiple hotpots both Icy and rocky, and a haz res for kicks. Nearby there are plenty systems with icy ringed planets but mostly outposts with small/medium pads, however the Kraits and Python miners would be fine. The factions in some of those systems have multiple pirate kill missions available which means stacking between factions, and since there are plenty ringed planets in adjacent systems, you don't have to wander about looking for mission signals. Just hit a haz or high res, they'll show up eventually. As for mining, I have to make several jumps to sell in my Anaconda, but that's ok. For that much money It's well worth the effort.

GD 140. It's within a few jumps of all the engineers I use, all flavours of material trader and Interstellar Factions. Now, the Thargs are there. That just makes it more interesting.

That's a pretty solid recommendation tbh, might have to check that out :)

Ross 780 and il Aquarii - Because Frontier put my minor faction(s) there and that's where my two squadrons are based. Ross 780 is cool it's Federation and middle distance from most engineers. There's a lava/fire moon that orbits the sun really closely and there's a ground base that sells anti tharoid stuff. It's one jump from a good ship yard in Ez Aquarii, one jump from an intersterllar factors and one jump from a void opal spot.

For me that's an interesting question, because as much as i'd like to move over to one of the 27 with no discovered tags systems i 100% mapped in the first few weeks, i still find myself at home at Elgin Hub in Chertan.

Well before they announced any updates to mining, i liked mining.. so took a sandbox adventure to find a new home that could mine. The search was for pristine metallics around alliance space which i was fond of at the time. On the list was chertan.. which quickly stopped the search because there was a coriolis station (with good outfitting) between the rings and the planet, perfect for mining and combat.

After settling in, i also find out there's a player faction there too, called the rock rats. I think they were active in the early stages of the game, and you could kinda tell this system was set up for mining focused pg, its kinda perfect. This wasn't interesting at all until the day of the last beyond patch. I had lived in this system for the last 6-8 months and i was pretty much the only player there. Just me for months. But of course what happens is in the beta, another player had decided to wake up and practice mapping the system.. well.. noone was going to steal my home! I claimed it! The first few hours of the patch, where you couldn't log in at all and were fighting for a connection and got disconnected every 20 mins once you did get on was so tense.. the other person beat me, but they started at body 1, the brown dwarf, where I logged back in and went straight for 2, the world with the mining rings and the base. That was tense. I had it all rehearsed too, exactly where id fly to and turn in the data.

Yeah there's something about it i still like, and i've been trying to move somewhere else really i have. Close proximity to shinrata, close enough to one of the double painite overlaps, colonies available for salvage mission stacking, its a pleasant out of the way corner of the bubble.

I have a few good candidates down south that i do love, but no reason to be in imperial space. Being close to shinrata and engineers are more important.

There's a trick for being able to stack ground based data scanner missions.. yes you get wanted, all sorts of annoying.. but its okay if you pick them up for low sec systems.. just clear your bounty before handing them in! Should have thought about that when cp first came out. Anyways, yeah been looking for a nice ground colony in a low sec system to make home for these missions too. Theres 2 low sec systems in my little empire so.. soon on the list.

I had just started playing ED and I did a local delivery mission in Eravate to Tiptree Gateway I think. I was a nervous new cmdr approaching a scary base on a planet surface and suddenly greeted by this girl with a wonderful lilting Lancashire accent. That was when I realised that the game was going to be full of interesting surprises.

Home for me is anywhere where a spaceport orbits a ringed planet where the RESs don't move away from you at 100s m/s. Currently Iota Persei.

I'm a freelancer and as such prefer to drop in wherever there's credits to be made or trouble to cause. That said, having grown up just down the road from Tiptree in the UK, and being a lover of marmalade, I always keep a ship at Tiptree Gateway.....plus a stash of Tiptree marmalade, obviously.

Colonia Dream for me.

I got to Colonia, went back to the bubble once or twice and found I liked it out here. Also I've now got all my ships here and all engineered mostly how I like them.

I have a spare Corvette stored at Lembava (could be LHS 20 thinking about it) in case I find my way back there for any reason.

Moxon's Mojo in Bolg! Cos what name is cooler than Moxon's Mojo? Apart from 'Bolg' of course! It's a high tech system, slap bang dead center of Federation space with everything nearby, including a good smattering of engineers.

GARD has taken over the bar at Moxon's Mojo - The Black Beluga - is now GARD's operational headquarters. Not much planning gets done, as you can imagine, but a good time is had by all!

Come and base at Moxon's Mojo and enjoy the protection of GARD! Shoot us a o7 when you see us!

Jameson Memorial..... Love to play with the Gankers in the Shin System. Pulled a wing into following me a while back. They could never quite get into interdiction speed and staying away from any gravity wells gives you the chance to enter into a urine extracting conversation with them. Got them to 5k when they had enough and realised i was pulling them!
Also love toying with them in my mine laying iCourier...

Apart from that Jameson has EVERY Module (Except the fast thrusters and corrosion cargo), EVERY SHIP and all at a 10% discount! AND some high paying cargo missions for when i need to buy another ship!
