Why are there no MEMERABLE characters? It makes no sense from a designers persective.

By no stretch was that an exaggeration. Litterally encountered and read over a 100 posts like this.

There are 10 to the power of 24 habitle planets estimated in our galaxy. If .01 percent had life that would be millions of aliens.
That would not live on airless worlds.

In elite lore life is plentiful. but they are just animals.
Sentient life however is ultra-rare.

So 99.99% of aliens in elite will be animals.

So far we have : the guardians and maybe the thargoid.
Was there more? it has been hinted at that many have been wiped out.

The crux of Elite is that there is no bad buy.

One persons heroine is another's terrorist. One persons hero is another's griefer.

Are the Empire the goodies, or the Feds or the independents?

Are the Thargoids the enemies or our friends?

Remember you are just 1 CMDR in 100, 1000, 10,000 why is your storyline important, why is mine?

The direction Elite goes is you are a small cog Ina large machine, how you cope with it is down to you.

But having one set of bad guys that good will win out over will not work in this game. Your idea of good I can bet is actually another's idea of bad and they will do their damnedness to wipe that out.

I will say this one more time. How does Memorable Characters equate to 1 bad guy? If you play a game of Stellaris for example. The different civilisations are instantly memorable. Like the Blorg. or In one of my games. The Nuulrian Endogamic Acrosticy

True but how would I know that without a story?

True but how would I know that without a story?
Its told via GalNet , some voice acting (only for the new missing ships) CG text as well as NPC text chat.
And visual evidence. we find something and try to work it out (like with the UA)

It a cold way of telling a story but I rather that over what other MMOs have. the worst part of ESO (for example) is when I see a player run around saving a town I allready saved... its silly.
If they did do missions they would have to either have them be played in a stand-alone game or be time limited as the elite universe moves in real time

From your perspective. But what I've seen. "Wide as an ocean shallow as a puddle" seems to be a very common complaint.
Its a complaint thrown at nearly every single sandbox

If they are memorable what's archon delanie's story why is he a pirate what's kuma crew's style look like? Where is he from? What's his personality like? Is he dashing dastardly or daring ? Calculated unhinged wild? Mean or agressive? One off yugio cards have more personality.

Ps that's the faction i belong to. Still know nothing about it.

What I've seen is that people who cannot form grammatically correct sentences often meet tragic fates involving several feet of rubber tubing, a bucket of water-based lubricant and a yak.

I also read on the internet that the movie Avatar was a complete flop, absolutely terrible, and no one should ever see it, so that must be true too.

Agreed. It's part of why I got burnt out on GW2 so fast. Their "dynamic" missions held so much promise, but in the end were just cyclical in nature. "Oh look, the centaurs are back, time to save the town again" ...exciting

I'm hopeful that some of the NPC persistence that golgot mentioned earlier will eventually make it into the game. I want to be able to choose who i befriend, and who I punch in the face (and have them remember me for it).

I agree. Memorable characters don't have to mean quest givers.

And people that language police are prejudice and pathetic . Some folks have dyslexia. I'm done with this circle jerk. The game is fine the way it is. Fanboys everywhere ..

I'm glad you finally came around to agreeing with me. :)

Agreed. Which is why some NPC persistence would be so nice. I can make my own story.
As long as 'memorable characters' doesn't translate into some single player story-on-rails type of thing, then I'm fine. Thankfully i can't ever see them doing that in ED.
