Why aren't there shipyards at engineers bases

Inconvenience is hardly challenging, in fact beyond PvP there isn't actually anything challenging right now in Elite. NPCs need a serious buff and we could do with Raid style missions.

Speak for yourself. I'm constantly getting blown up by NPCs, by high gravity planets, by poor steering and utterly ludicrously bad parking...

Nothing inconvenient about ship transfer. Or would you prefer it if we didn't have it at all. It is a massive help in the game.Just plan your gaming sessions a bit better.

Having shipyards at those bases might just turn out to be convenient for players, and that's a huge no-no in Elite Dangerous. ;)

Jaja absolutely this. There are few quality of Life improvements in this game but new grind content (easy content imo).

But It is still a great game.

Oh it doesn't really effect me negatively, I know how to use a high jump mule ship to do all my engineering with and just move the parts over. But fact is that being inconvenient isn't exactly what one could call challenging.

Never said it was challenging. But it is far more convenient then not having ship transfer at all without breaking parts of the game.

1. NPCs are extremely easy to beat, you just need to practice, and yes that's even without engineering and big ships

2. Bottom right of the HUD is the gravity level of the planet, and the ship warns you when approaching high gravity worlds. Make a more careful approach until you become familiar with high gravity mechanics

3. Get better thrusters and learn to use Flight Assist Off, even partial use can significantly improve your maneuvering. To get started in training go to a ring RES site, toggle FAO, and just start practicing rock dodging.

4. Practice makes perfect, park enough times and you'll be able to dock any ship faster than autodock and very reliably.

This covers most of the basics, once learned the only actual threat is other players.

If I were a wizard, err, engineer, I'd be selling as many modules as I could at a tidy +15% or more markup, js. Plenty of commanders would pay the inflated price rather than transfer. These engineers are really bad entrepeneurs. Then again, they don't even accept cold hard credits. Not a one. Anyone find that believable? ;)

Give this man a cookie. a really good one!

It's bad enough having to wait an hour for the ships to transfer, let alone having to find an adjacent system with a shipyard and having to ferry them all back and forth one at a time [mad]

I've raised this before...

Why is ship transfer anything to do with being able to buy/sell ships? Why is the ship transfer option needlessly buried down in "Ship yard"? - https://forums.frontier.co.uk/showthread.php/331145-Why-don-t-basically-ALL-stations-have-a-shipyard

Put "Ship Transfer" a level up and voila, you can move ships around no matter where you are...

You make it sound easy, I have tried all the above for months - and having immense fun by the way - and yet I still get caught out, and I don't find NPCs easy - I still can't pass "Advanced Combat Training".

Perhaps you have simply out-grown this game with your immense skill & prowess? Just stating NPCs are easy doesn't make it so for everyone. Making money is easy [well it is for me - but I doubt everyone agrees]

Oh come now... I killed 72 NPC's in a conflict zone, with no los thull, and half of those after my multi-cannon ran out of ammo! Do you know how long it takes to kill an Elite Cutter popping SCB's like Jelly Belly's with just a single c3 beam?

That's hard work, right there!

In all seriousness... Unleash SJA, and let her release her Beta 4 minions back into the wild.

You only get an Engineer invite once you are worthy as they are hiding away while plying their craft. Having a shipyard at the back of the shed is hardly being discreet by said Engineer.

Err no, I never said I was excellent or the best, maybe average or so in that I do alright against other PvPers. Perhaps you haven't outfitted the ship properly or need to tweak your controls for better responsiveness. Build an A-rated Eagle and practice with that, it's low cost and by the end you should find it able to handle any NPC, focus on getting into their blind spots and having the necessary defense to tough out stray turret fire.

The UI in this game is, generally speaking, overly complicated. I do UI' as part of my job, and some of the UI decisions have me seriously banging my head against a brick wall.
