Modes Why do you want me in Open?

I found the link as it goes https://forums.frontier.co.uk/showt...owerplay-AMA?p=2145528&viewfull=1#post2145528

But they DO face direct opposition by the people on the other power doing PP solo - they directly cancel each other out. The actual problem is that people are making up crap arguments to get rid of solo/PG in PP for no reason whatsoever which wil lalso waste dev time and on a game mode nobody plays and the other changes don't change how rubbish it is - why does it need working on now and such little done with it over other things that desperately need attention?

Essentially, what they're saying is FD should allow them to bring weapons to the voting booth- so if someone opposes them they can just use weapons on them instead of voting against them.

I think it's more like "we're so desperate to have something happen to PP we'll literally accept anything and in spite of the game being made better elsehwere."

No, what they're saying is transporting supplies through a warzone should be dangerous.

It isn't though, at all, not even in the slightest.

Edit: And warzone? LOL what warzone would this be? Where are the fleets fighting it out and where's the front line?

Perhaps, I'm just commenting as to the argument being used. It's the same old tired argument that's been postured again and again- that PG's/Solo have some sort of perceived "advantage", when in all fact there's none to be had. Every person playing owns an account, every person playing has a vote, and may oppose each other. The theory that others are advantaged just because someone can't explode someone else's ship in retaliation for opposing their vote is ridiculous at best, but it doesn't stop them from using it.

If anything, it could be said those who own multiple accounts have an advantage.

And the missions/objectives are all PVE, aren't they?

I love how there are so many people in this thread complaining that Frontier are forcing them to be near combat are simultaneously saying that hauling should be the only effective way to do powerplay. Open only powerplay makes all play styles viable instead of just hauling which is why its going to happen.

As far as I know- yes. I haven't seen any that require you to go out and explode "X" amount of opposing ships.

Which makes it a waste of dev time which brings me around to the broader point of that dev time can go on soemthing else. The changes aren't going to make any difference - it sucked when it was born and it's still going to suck after this facelift.

Now if the players had a vote on which part of the game FDev worked on, PP would be at the bottom just above CQC ;)

It doesn't make solo or PG playstyles viable though, does it.

Totally agree with the voting. I think Open PvE and PvE Flagging should be additional options to vote on. Not everyone bought this game to "compete" with other players, after all.

CQC should be reworked to suit the needs of those wanting the "esports" feel from ED.

Will you walk into my parlour? said the spider to the fly.........

...........And now dear little children, who may this story read,
To idle, silly flattering words, I pray you ne'er give heed:
Unto an evil counsellor, close heart and ear and eye,
And take a lesson from this tale, of the Spider and the Fly.

“Will you walk into my parlour?” said the Spider to the Fly,
'Tis the prettiest little parlour that ever you did spy;
The way into my parlour is up a winding stair,
And I've a many curious things to show when you are there.”

“Oh no, no,” said the little Fly, “to ask me is in vain,
For who goes up your winding stair can never come down again.”
“I'm sure you must be weary, dear, with soaring up so high;
Will you rest upon my little bed?” said the Spider to the Fly.
“There are pretty curtains drawn around; the sheets are fine and thin,
And if you like to rest awhile, I'll snugly tuck you in!”

“Oh no, no,” said the little Fly, “for I've often heard it said,
They never, never wake again, who sleep upon your bed!”

Said the cunning Spider to the Fly, “Dear friend what can I do,
To prove the warm affection I've always felt for you?
I have within my pantry, good store of all that's nice;
I'm sure you're very welcome — will you please to take a slice?”

“Oh no, no,” said the little Fly, “kind Sir, that cannot be,
I've heard what's in your pantry, and I do not wish to see!”

“Sweet creature!” said the Spider, “you're witty and you're wise,
How handsome are your gauzy wings, how brilliant are your eyes!
I've a little looking-glass upon my parlour shelf,
If you'll step in one moment, dear, you shall behold yourself.”

“I thank you, gentle sir,” she said, “for what you're pleased to say,
And bidding you good morning now, I'll call another day.”

The Spider turned him round about, and went into his den,
For well he knew the silly Fly would soon come back again:
So he wove a subtle web, in a little corner sly,
And set his table ready, to dine upon the Fly.

Then he came out to his door again, and merrily did sing,
“Come hither, hither, pretty Fly, with the pearl and silver wing;
Your robes are green and purple — there's a crest upon your head;
Your eyes are like the diamond bright, but mine are dull as lead!”

Alas, alas! how very soon this silly little Fly,
Hearing his wily, flattering words, came slowly flitting by;
With buzzing wings she hung aloft, then near and nearer drew,
Thinking only of her brilliant eyes, and green and purple hue —
Thinking only of her crested head — poor foolish thing!
At last,
Up jumped the cunning Spider, and fiercely held her fast.
He dragged her up his winding stair, into his dismal den,
Within his little parlour — but she ne'er came out again!

And now dear little children, who may this story read,
To idle, silly flattering words, I pray you ne'er give heed:
Unto an evil counsellor, close heart and ear and eye,
And take a lesson from this tale, of the Spider and the Fly.

Good example of what the true relationship PvP has to PvE.... predator and prey.

No contest, no competition.

If you think you're so vulnerable that you think you have no chance to escape then you're doing something wrong. Any ship in this game can escape from all but a full gank wing, and most can escape from that.

Yes, it's pretty easy. So why bother at all - it just wastes everyone's time.

It's not about "escaping", it's about "not engaging" to begin with. PvE players don't engage other players in combat... a simple fact that continues to elude you.

That's why "PVP" = Player vs Player and "PVE" = Player vs Environment

Because a shocking number of people are like the guy I replied to, and because if I'm by myself more than you would think fight back.

Presumably those players wanted that risk and choose to engage because they enjoy it.
Forcing it on people who don't enjoy it isn't going to make them enjoy it.

It'll be shocking to hear for you, but not everyone wants to git gud.
Some just want to have a chill time cruising through space.

A small portion of PvPers ruin that, not just with the PvP itself, but also with their attitude and approach.

I want you in open so I may watch you... follow you... observe you without your knowledge. I want to learn your routes. I want to learn your patterns. I want to know what it's like to be you, without actually being you. And then, when the time is right, the stars are aligned and there's no other player in scanner-sight, that's when I STRIKE! I'll fly by you and say, "Hi there! Just passing by, making a delivery. Happy space-trucking, bub!" and go about my business, finding my next victim in which to say a pleasant greeting.

You have been warned.

Then stay in solo and stop worrying about the modes you don't understand. I don't see what your issue is.

Some don't know what they'll enjoy till they try it one way or another, but its part of the game they bought and I enjoy it. I make sure players get the whole game experience, not just bits and pieces.
