Then don't use the pod. Go "exploring"! I don't force you under a gunpoint to fly autopilot, do I? The difference between us is that you try to force me into your narrow scheme of thinking, while I am offering options. Options - which were pointed more than once in this thread nobody bothers to read apparently - are slower than normal, manual method. And since nobody is bothering to read there's no point in discussing with an echo chamber.
Plus calling it flying is a bit of a stretch really, which also was pointed out by a few people. Let me guess, judging from inclusion of the phrase "manually flying", you look condescending on those who use docking computer, amrite? Well good for you, that's the cool kids gang amrite? Monkeys, ladder, bananas, water...
Sadly the discussion potential of this thread has run out for me. Entertainment-wise too. Now you people can commence the usual showeling animal poo how any idea changing your belowed status quo is a complete blasphemy and you will kill your cat and cut your hair in protest if someone at fdev would even think of such travesty. I wouldn't say you're at fault that the game mechanics stagnate, no fdev is doing whatever fdev feels doing (not much apparently, judging from updates). But shooting down any QoL idea isn't helping the game either. PS: scale of the galaxy you say? Well... go back to your physics defying escape pods and telepresence then! Don't forget your magic alloy Anaconda on the way out, too! Carry on, as you were...
That "don't use it if you don't like it" argument is pretty dull, game decisions aren't like that.
Actually, let me rephrase it like this "If you don't like ED without AP then don't use it".
