Let's face it: PvP has no game driven structures in ED, no game related rewards or other justifications and very weak consequences. On top it all sorts of unpredictabilities from a P2P network that is 'brokered' by a central server, including all sorts of instancing issues (I didn't say 'broken' but it comes close). So does PvP in any given instance require at least one player with open ports (e.g. port forwarding or UPnP) to act as a host, otherwise bad luck and no one won't see anyone. And that's only the tip of the iceberg...
If all this still appeals to you then all power to you. But I hope you can also understand why many commanders simply can't take this sort of PvP seriously and rather stay away from it or do it with some friends at best, which is also perfectly doable in Open (FWIW) with just a tiny bit of experience. Those who don't understand these preconditions usually end up as frustrated griefers and start endless debates of the kind "why can't ED be like EVE" or similar nonsense. Do whatever you want but don't be that guy.![]()
Thank you pi
This is it I wanted to hear all along!
As You so eloquently put it PvP is left alone in Elite Dangerous in Open.
I couldn't put it more nicely, then you did here, for me.
A honest! summarisation, PvP has no place in Open.
Beside ganging and abuse, according to you, and sadly many others.
S!
