Why I prefer ED to EVE... (even incomplete)

Round and around and around we go.

I posted in another thread, DB said that Elite Dangerous is not an MMOG so we can all relax.

I have never played EVE and very pleased about it. It seems incredibly dull.
This is a personal thing but I have something called a 'life' and games only feature in a tiny part of it.

Anything that requires that amount of commitment ain't gonna happen. Yes I did play the original Elite for hours on end - I was 13 years old. Looking at the ages that people admitted to - seems like I am in the largest demographic.

By the way, I checked out a review of EVE and fell about laughing...

Eve might be more suited to you than you think then. I doubt I spend as much as 20 minutes a week playing eve, but find it worthwhile.

eve...

I played eve for a long time, spending quite a few years on it, make some good friends that i still have today.

But yes it is brutal, i wasn't really interesting in the PvP ship combat, but concentrated on the bussines / research side which in my view is the best 'crafting' of any MMO. In it's own way is it's own PvP.

I really enjoyed that aprt, even running over the year 3 or 4 corporations that were tied to over corps that were in there manufacturing arm. It was fun, but started to be very time consuming, with work incresing time be came a limiting factor.

with it all maturing, it also became harder to be a small operation, we would make good profits, and i kept a real eye on the markets so we did, but it basicly in the end burned us all out.

It's been hard to get back, with all the changes but i doubt i ever be able to put the hours in that are required to run a fun corp again.

It is very good at what it does, and I have enjoyed my time there, but as I said at the start of the thread, there was a disconnect there that always stopped me from completely connecting to the world, if not the people.
