Why not just close open play fdev?

Have you ever tried a CG in open??

No?

Why not?

Too afraid you're not good enough?

Scared to lose your ship/cargo?

Well , without trying it in open, you'll just be a simple scared spacetrader that looks at open and whistfully wishes he tried it....

Buy a medium ship.... fit it with a a class 5A engineered drives along with heatsinks, ecm PDT etc etc, and go for it in open. sure you'll get shot down(perhaps) but avoiding the gankers, breaking their blockade, and finally out smarting the dumb...... err people to get to the station will get you going "YES I DID IT" more than a T9 in solo...

The real failure is not to try and fail, but to fail to try.

Oh look another load of testosterone-fueled tripe that assumes anybody who plays in solo must do it because they're 'scared'.

For clarity, a seven foot stranger running at me with a machete would probably scare me. My pixels blowing up in a space game doesn't exactly have me quaking with fear.

Did you consider other possible explanations? Here's one for you - suppose I don't want to spend my spare time engaging with people with such limited imaginations?

(This post is pro bono by the way but if you want to engage in a prolonged discussion I'm afraid I'll have to bill you.)

I think the Solo mode is stupid, because it splits the player base. People will just switch to solo rather than collaborate with other players for protection. It undoes any potential multiplayer interaction that would otherwise occur.

Who wants to play as a herd member for the sheepdogs to protect from the wolves?

If it was "fun" then it would already be a common occurrence.

.... and Solo has always been just as much a part of the game as Private Groups and Open - as they were announced at the same time when the game design information was published at the beginning of the Kickstarter pitch.

Ok we'll take your seven foot stranger running at you with a machette, now imagine the giggles as your attacker finally lunges at you for the kill and you dodge to the side and he falls flat on his face while you leg it to your destination.
but if you're content with flying a T9 in solo as your 'entertainment' , then so be it.
I prefer some risk to my elite dangerous. which is why I said make a fast medium ship and try it.

Uh huh off you pop now a village is looking for you.

Yeah , quite possibly the one i carpet bombed with mines yesterday.... that was fun.
Note to self : maintain an alltitude of 1km+ when carpet bombing

You really don't understand basic concepts like 'I'm 49 years old and perfectly capable of deciding what I want to do for myself thanks' do you? Bless.

That will be £4 by the way.

To be honest, I think Leo was referring to the village that has lost its resident idiot. I could be wrong though, but it's a bit like the old Cinderella thing really :)

He absolutely was.

It´s sad that FD never found a solution for this meanwhile 6 year old problem. I bet besides the Offline-Mode that things like that prevented Elite from getting what it really deserved. One of hundred reasons I mean.
