PvP Why PvP is not popular in Elite Dangerous?

With regards to the contention that most players want Solo / Private Groups to stop affecting the BGS / PowerPlay / etc. that rather seems to be at odds with Frontier's view on how many players get involved in PvP (i.e. those that would presumably benefit most from the change):

Lots of stuff has changed. And the game is evolving right before our eyes.

You think they wont change this stuff? Please.

I think for the most part the pvp community are decent people. Unfortunately certain player groups have tarnished the look of pvp and pvpers in general. Some of these kids in these groups lack maturity and want to see the world burn. It kinda sucks. PvP is a ton of fun in this game. Ganking should be discouraged and is not a enjoyable sport

Why do you think they made changes to engineers for the longevity of the game so everyone has a equal shot? They wouldnt need those changes if they wanted people in solo and private.

They want people to do what I am telling you.

They wouldnt have done it. If they didnt.

Yeah, sure, because commanders only engineer their ships to go pew pew pew.................................................................................................................................................................except when they don't.

I don't really like the combat aspect of Elite Dangerous which is why I play in solo. I am not forcing any kind of laws or behaviour on pvp/gankers, so don't force me into open so you can have fun blowing up my ships which ruins my fun.

Because people complained about the RNG and a lot of effort could mean no improvements. Now the RNG influence is diminished and every upgrade is an improvement.

Facts. Straight up.

No, they complained because of how long it took to cap out to be on the same level.

They said its for the longevity of the game.

If they didnt want people on a level playing field, LIKE HE SAID IN THE STREAM. They wouldnt have changed it. The Level playing field is not for NPC's

It wouldnt have mattered if it was only for NPC's or we would have weapons like Diablo. Understand.

Now thats a fact. Straight up.

Ding, ding, ding! We have a winner!

Yeah, last time I checked- Engineering wasn't available as an PvP-exclusive feature.

We're not in 2016 anymore .....

Ahem.......

Thats a buncha nonsense. Complete and utter nonsense.

Even sandro recognizes the risks from open solo and private.

You guy are something else. I swear,

READ IT. Anything he said before or after does NOT change what he says here.

Get with the program people and use your gimballed eyes.

When is your 'one quote to rule them all' from?

Eh? They explicitly made those changes because people weren't even taking part in the engineers. Nothing to do with what you said there at all - all to do with people being put off by the incessant whinging from pvpbros that it took them a thousand rolls to get anything worthwhile when in the end most folk would have been perfectly happy with a few rolls and done.

Exactly you instance out your adversaries so you can complete your tasks for objectives against your opponents. Taking systems, or moving powerplay stuff.

Its not gonna last.

It's lasted just fine and will continue to do so.

Besides...just start to think about how difficult it would be to separate the BGS into more than one. It would be expensive (two galaxy states to maintain on separate servers, slowly getting further and further apart). And it would be to satisfy the demands of a noisy minority.

Hello,

You do realize frontier wants people shooting each other. Have you even watched their streams?
The only children I see here are the ones fighting against it.
Which is really funny. BEcause you guys fighting against it are the ones that have caused the problem in the first place.
Why didn't you mention, that FD called the Game 'Dangerous' :D
There is a reason the game has the 3 Modes.
I mean just use your brain for 10 minutes and think about it.

I'm going to send you in the right direction: Because if not, that game would be death by now. That minority of PvPer wouldn't pay the rent for all of the FD stuff.
There are the people needed, which want to play boring, wasting their time with exploring, trading etc. - lets call it the majority.

You're right, its been that way for a long time.

But what hes saying is there will never be changes because of what was said THEN.

When sandro said THEN 2016 that he recognized the risks between the modes. As a matter of fact None of that changes there.

The game has evolved since then, and the modes will inevitably change with it to GIVE PVP ITS MEANING. The modes have taken that away.

Its really simple.

Or, you guys can fight, and PVP will only be used for salt. Instead of objective based gameplay.

What indication, beyond a quote from March 2016 that was all but redacted, do you have for that to be the case?

(Don't say engineer rebalancing, that is a game wide balance issue not solely to do with PVP)

IT HAS EVERYTHING TO DO WITH PVP.

So does Crime and Punishment and the Karma system

They DAMN SURE didnt come from people complaining about actions in private and solo now did they?

My thought on this was because there were very few people interested in Engineers (behind the scenes metrics, not forum complaints or suggestions)...because it was not fun nor necessary. The removal of 3 levels of RNG makes it more palatable to more people in the game. (number of rolls, roll outcomes, and experimental lottery) Didn't have anything to do with PVP.

Assumption. What exactly makes it "inevitable" do you have some proof that removing the modes will "give PvP meaning", or just more speculation?

The modes have taken that away.

False equivalence, again. You're still blaming the modes, as usual.

We listen to both sides. While it's true that the PvP crowd do tend to be more vocal and in previous betas have given more organised feedback, we're well aware that the majority of players don't get involved in PvP.
I wonder from where they have statistic about numbers in PvP and PvE crowd.
A lot of PvP players dont play and waiting for update, dont go on forum write about it but own game, or simply play own group mode for pvp, or play solo because open is broken. Im pretty sure they just look at solo/group vs open mode and that is not good source of information.

Plenty of commanders that have never fired a shot in anger at another player had issues with engineering, explorers, traders, smugglers, miners, PVE pirates and bounty hunters, you keep trying to claim some PVP exclusivity to engineering that simply does not exist.
Onto C&P and Karma, yes, without doubt some of that has to do with PVP but again it isn't all of it and it is in no way exclusive to you or your ideals.

IT HAS EVERYTHING TO DO WITH PVP.

No, it doesn't. As has been said already- Engineering is not PvP-exclusive. Last time I checked it's available for use by all game play styles. (PvP or PvE)

So does Crime and Punishment and the Karma system

They DAMN SURE didnt come from people complaining about actions in private and solo now did they?

And now we have "Whatabouttery". C&P and Karma are indeed directly related with PvP- but that has nothing to do with your assertion regarding Engineering.
