Why should anyone be fighting Thargoids?

While scout-farming is an ill-suited way to make money, keeping them from incurring our systems is a reward in its own right. If you want money, there's plenty of it somewhere else (or git gud at killing interceptors, those can make you plenty ;) ). Money or not, defense is critical to keep the whole dang bubble from burning. You kill a bunch of scouts and the reward will cover for your repairs, good enough for me!

Rewards in this game make no sense. Many players would say that credits can be removed from the game. As you can easily earn 100M in an hour. And if you play for credits you can get everything you need in a day or two. Then you just go and buy whatever you want. And killing Thargoid scouts for 10K is a joke. I hope that FDev would reconsider the reward mechanics in 2019. Something they should have done years ago.

That has only been true in my since they added the new mining tools and certain minerals became selectively profitable. Prior to that, the highest my account ever got was about 180mil, and that was after MONTHS of hacking away at a mixture of exploration and local missions. It has been a painful process to get the ships I want, get them outfitted the way I want and get them engineered the way I want. Or, at least as close as you can out here in Colonia---where you cannot GET a lot of the A- or B-rated modules and get NONE of the unique items from the Empire, Federation or Alliance. So, you need to consider that not everyone has figured out the get-rich-quick schemes. As for Thargoids, as others have pointed out, going after the Scouts is much less about the money than it is about the Combat Rank and gaining a little bit of skill against Thargoids in general. I thoroughly enjoyed the skirmishes I got into with the Scouts and it helped me get Dangerous ranking in a couple of weeks (from Master). I can barely make a dent in my Combat Ranking now that I'm back in Colonia, even going to compromised nav beacons. So, I'm very much in favor of keeping the credit system in place and in FDev enhancing and fixing the issues with Thargoid challenges. I don't think they should change anything about the Scouts.

O{ is too credit hungry. A few hours in an AX CZ with a wingmate and I made 29-30M in credit bonds. It's plenty of money. just because opals make absolutely ridiculous money doesn't mean we need to have everything make that much cash. That would be ridiculous.

Forget about Thargoids. I was hoping there would be more life out there. Other civilizations or civilizations in the making. Its so empty out there. Then realizing that there are many region locked areas of space.

IF we ever get to see other civilization (doubtful) but if we do, I really hope its not all just combat related.

1) Something to do that is a bit more challenging than popping 2 bit pirates in res zones.
2) Keeping an important (even if it is just to you) station from burning and being out of commission for who knows how long.
3) Nothing, just 1 and 2.

Thargoid attacks against stations should be made like Community Goals, where reaching certain levels of "Tier´s" (through killing Thargoids eventually decides how much damage station will have at the end of the attack.

The only real advantage that has over the current system is avoiding bugs. While I agree that CGs should be used more for this kind of thing, I think the infestation mechanic is a step in the right direction, at least when it doesn't bug out squandering months of work.
