Why the marine pack would be perfect

I know that the marine pack has been discussed alot.
alot of people seem to think that it would be controversial maybe it would be.
but I mean the polar bear is in the game why dont they just do the same to orca's just make their habitat size requirment huge
and make it hard to get em happy.
i mean marine animals is basicly the only type of animal we need in the game except for birds
marine animals would be so cool to have in the game i know in real life they dont do very well in captivity but thats mainly because company's like seaworld
dont rlly care for the animals and just want money.
i mean its still a game and in my opinion it would be the perfect adition a whole new type of enclosure and enrichment items and animals of course to add to your zoo
just make the requirments for the animals hard.
it would be so beatifull to see a orca or dolphin in the game
it would be a huge expansion and alot of work to add but in my opinion it would be the best pack yet i wouldnt mind if it costed more like 15 20 or maybe 25 bucks if they would add it it would probably be huge !
no shows with the animals just let our geusts enjoy these beatifull animals !!!

let me know what you think !

Well discussing marine packs, more specifically cetacean packs is the single most controversial topic here and always gets heated with typically 2 groups on opposite ends - the animals are cool it's just a game group and no it's morally wrong group. Never ends well in anyway.
So many don't regard the polar bear too controversial due to it being a regular zoo animal and can do well in captivity if given plenty room to roam, a proper diet and suitable enrichment - my local zoo has a very successful breeding program with the bears due to it being one of the largest polar bear enclosures in the world. Can we say the same for orcas? No absolutely not.

Raising awareness, supporting conservation projects and following animal welfare guidelines is a major theme in the game which is why we see larger than typical requirements for animals. The polar bears for example follow the guidelines of the Manitoba standard (minimum size requirement of a polar bear enclosure for Optimal welfare), many were unhappy with the polar bear sizes outlined by this due to many city zoos realistically holding the bears in much much smaller enclosures. Like the polar bear that I saw years back in SeaWorld had no more than 800m2 at most , my local zoo boasts a 24,000m2 enclosure with happy bears

Now back to the marine animals though, as mentioned lots here on the forum - marine animals require a brand new mechanics to support full time water based animals. We have no such thing ingame yet and likely is as complicated as introducing free flight aviaries, the system for keepers entering through a gate cannot work for marine animals. It could be as simple as an exhibit box where the keeper will stand next to the habitat and magically make animals appear or a full on working system that is similar to real life - a full different system would be better for a different game personally

The main problem wanting marine animals - whales and dolphins, is that frontier is UK based. In the UK we do not hold any cetaceans in zoos due to the widespread knowledge of animal cruelty and the success of animal rights in the late 20th century. Now we have the attention of SeaWorld engraving that knowledge further and more and more people oppose the idea of certain animals just shouldn't be in captivity. Where do we draw the line between reality and a game? Frontier will decide that

I don't mind People wanting cetaceans and it is just a game off course. But I don't think I would buy a pack with cetaceans. I am just not interested. Maybe other sea life like a walrus, sea otter or manatee.

thanks for the reply !
I do see where your coming from
i just find it weird that people would be mad if it where added in the game i mean its not real its a game thats my opinion
and it would just be so fun to see these beatifull animals in the game.
I honestly think orca's could do better in captivity if there living conditions would be better in irl zoo's
it would be alot of of work for frontier thats true but i think it would be very succesfull i wouldt mind to pay a premium price if the dlc ever came out !

Yeah I remember reading an article about the welfare of orcas and the lack of financial incentives to keep orcas in a large enough habitat for them to do well. It said along the lines of the smallest possible tank would be the entire size of the SeaWorld park ( parking and all). To translate that into the game - that's 50-100,000 m2 or just about a third-half of the map

I've said this before on similar threads, but I'd much rather have a Planet Aquarium, as opposed to a marine expansion for this game. I think taking care of fully aquatic animals would deviate too sharply from PZ's gameplay, and if it was its own game, then we would got a lot more animals than any one DLC could give us.

I think if PZ ever gets full aquatic stuff it will be in the form of an expansion. Its the same for aviaries, a potential Bird/marine pack with 8 animals just wont cut it. My guess it will be a larger DLC/expansion for idk 20-25 euros maybe. Could also make up the extra work for the new systems

Kinda depends what frontiers long term vision for the game is, I would imagine a much larger expansion with a completely new habitat system and say double or triple the amount of animals isn't feasible to do in 3/4 months. Depends if planet zoo is going into more smaller packs longer support equalling more profit or maybe turning into expansion packs similar to planet coaster near the end of its lifespan. Could also argue that every pack we have received should of been 20 plus animals especially Africa and South America

Could also see the doing a "Marine starter pack" and than releasing more themed dlcs later maybe one for the amazon and so on. same with birds

I think we there are a lot more important zoo animals we need that aren't just marine animals and birds. I still can't make a realistic South America, Australia or Middle East section.
