Why would someone limit who can dock on their carrier?

OCD / RP paranoia. There's something really disturbing with the thought that some random commander snuck aboard your carrier, followed you way outside the bubble and....

Can't think of any other reason really.

Also, when you go to the decommision ui, it seems to report how many commanders you have on board.. i know for a fact this (at least previously) doesnt work, i had an alt account docked there and it said zero other commanders.

One of the problems with a FC is that if anyone can dock, then the FC does a 500 ly jump to an isolated region, the unfortunate commander can end up stranded...
and the FC owner gets some grief.

Alternatively, it could be open only to the group, so that they could achieve a specific goal.

For me, it's not wanting stowaways, and if I need to sell stuff low price, to do so with fair confidence only ships with market access are those I want.
FC owners have no view as to who has docked/bought/sold stuff, or who is still docked. (Or I suppose ways to eject stowaways)

I'm not sure it's possible to legislate at all times for people with zero common sense!

1) fleet carriers are famously able to move 2) I dock on a carrier 3) fleet carrier moves 4) life is SO unfair!

2) selling shannigans. You can use a carrier to pass stuff* from cmdr to cmdr.
3) not wanting criminals on board.
4) squadron/friends only for wing related matters.
