Will you ditch the Python for the Chieftain

I'm just a bit bummed, honestly, that the new Alliance military craft is going to be Lakon-styled not Faulcon deLacey-styled. I know FD have "design notes" specific to each manufacturer but I'm starting to think that for new ships it's a matter of cramming the internals together, wrapping a convex hull around it and then... "Which one do you think it looks like?" "Looks like a box. Lakon or Core Dynamics." "But it's imperial!" "Ok, streamline the box a bit and call it Gutamaya."

As the title states, will the new Chieftain be the Python for 2018?

I am guessing (because we have not seen it yet) the Chieftain may have less space available for cargo and maybe even less jump-range than the Python. There is a very good chance that I will own both. Why throw away a perfectly good ship? I have money. o7

It will be nice to have options, nonetheless.

I'm looking forward to the day when the Python and Anaconda get knocked on their *** personally.

As I'm sure is the case with a lot of others... which is also why they both need it.

They're both too good at everything, while other ships actually have (questionably) meaningful disadvantages. ;)

This^^^

I don't want the Python or Conda to be downgraded though, I would love to see some new ships that can actually compete with them.
Frankly if you own a Python and Conda you don't need anything else.
Fortunately I don't fly ships for their needs only but mainly for the fun of flying different ships.

We live in the age of 100 million credit per hour mission stacks... why would anybody need to sell their Python? Fill it full of cabins and do a couple of long-supercruise passenger runs.. you'll be able to afford to buy and A-rate a medium ship in about 2 hours.

I don't have a python. If it were up to me, it would have at least a quarter of its total cargo potential removed and some maneuverability restored. But hey, it doesn't hurt me.

As I don't have a python, it won't be replaced. Even if I did, I doubt I'd replace it.

I just can not do that i watched a some people on twitch do it and was like no way. You can almost watch a movie while you do them type of missions.

I may be wrong here but It isn't weight or carrying capacity that determines what landing pad. Its the outside dimensions mainly width. The T series ships are wide ships compared to there length. As people have put it a flying brick or box.

Nope, the only thing that determines pad size is the physical dimensions of the ship. In the T7s case it is just a meter or two too tall, that's all that keeps it on the large pads and prevents it from landing on medium pads.

Next time you land a T7, go to the external camera view and just look at how much extra pad there is all around you. It's hilarious!

I own 3 pythons, each outfitted for different tasks.
I imagine Chieftains will play out similarly. But we'll have to see when they're released.

The one thing Chieftain has over both the Python and FDL is the centered pilot seat. That alone puts it high on the buy list.

not unless it allows for at least 200t of cargo, has as good of a jump range, and is more agile...basically if it sacrifices some cargo for some agility I'd be down but otherwise python is too good. I doubt that it'll pan out that way, but we already have a bunch of low cargo high combat capable medium sized ships. I can understand if this needs to be alliances version an fdl/fas, but I hope it differentiates itself a bit.

So all you care about is combat?

Then why not get a FAS or a Gunship instead?

Because of choice? And what's wrong if someone play stile favors combat over other activities? Besides, as stated from FD, the chieftain is a combat focused ship
