Windows 10 Fall Creators Update (1709) Improved Performance?

I noticed a huge improvement.

Mainly because I also;
  • Did a full wipe
  • Installed Windows on an SSD
  • Installed totally clean drivers
  • And a clean install of ED

:p

I did mostly fix the CTD issue I was having in ED. I think it's driver related.

I still get it, but it's rarer, and only seems to happen once a day, instead of once a minute. Lol

Still gonna get a new PSU Monday, just in case it's because my ancient one can't power my R9 280x.

Believe it or not, yes - I have noticed a difference. I swear the image in the rift is better (no changes to any settings) and it genuinely seems smoother.

Thanks for the feedback. Part of the reason Ive upgraded to 1709 so quickly was due to the fact there was some attention around creators update upon release regarding game mode and related FPS issues.
You can see more details below but 1709 includes the stutter fix and for the first time in a long time I'm seeing noticeable improvement inside stations and on planet surfaces. Perhaps its more noticeable in VR?

We did a bunch of "same hardware, same benchmarks, fresh OS" tests when Win10 was released and it was identical to 7 in performance. It's been patched and matured since. You'd have to be running on a toaster to notice any performance improvement, and then 60 FPS would be the least of your worries.
