Winter 2023 DLC Speculation

Off topic but i need some help:
Everytime i try to load my zoo the game crashes, i played in there this afternoon, closed the game, did something else, tried to play again, keeps crashing. Didnt even turn off my PC in the meantime.
My other zoos load with no issue.
Does anyone know what could cause this?
I have no moods installed

Memory leak crash? Restarting the pc will fix that. Worst thing is the file corrupted upon saving, you could load an autosave if one exists for the main zoo file. Validate game files in case you think it's a game problem or you can send the zoo file to frontier support to check it out.

I was of course joking, i really dont want to see yet another european deer. A north american or asian deer is line first and europe instead need more unique woodland animals like the mentioned bison, wildcats, and ground birds.
Yeah, here's how I'd do deer:
  1. Siberian musk deer
  2. Père David's deer
  3. Southern pudu
  4. Elk (wapiti)
  5. Whitetail deer

That's the order I'd like to get them

I love how people claim aquatic mammals won't be controversial and yet, every time it gets brought up... It only takes like, 3-4 posts for it to become a flat-out argument. :ROFLMAO:

Anyway. I don't understand the aquarium hype. It would be nice to get a handful of very specific species (e.g., piranhas, maybe some bigger freshwater fish, jellyfish) implemented as exhibit species with different sized/shaped exhibits... But I don't know that I'd ever feel like I needed more.

When you start ebbing into the smaller tropical fish, the number you'd need to make it feel realistic would straight-up crash the game if you tried building an actual full/proper aquarium.

Gonna focus my wishful thinking energies on naked mole rats instead.
hot take if fish are added it should only be freshwater because alot of zoos do keep some fish like koi in open ponds and some smaller fish in tanks but rarely ever keep dedicated saltwater tanks as part of their collections without it being an attached dedicated aquarium.

Yeah, its one of my most wanted animals! But, if others don't want it I completely understand and will stop pushing for it...
Oh hey, I just saw this post so I'm sorry it's so long after. By all means you should continue to push for it. No one's going to like everything, and everything that's out there will be disliked by someone. I was just letting my own bias take front, and I'm sorry for that. I would never legitimately want someone to stop asking for something just because of my own opinion about it.*

*except the Manatee since it's not possible with current game mechanics. But since I think manatees are awesome, that's more logic than emotion based.

Tropical Asia gets underdiscussed in convos on deer, IMO. India and SE Asia are rich in deer species. There is a single national park in India with more deer species than all of Europe (including moose and reindeer). I get that the forum’s answer for the extreme underrepresentation of ungulates from India compared to diversity is antelope like blackbuck and/or nilgai, but I think Indian/northern muntjac would be a good shout too as it has range in three “regions” of tropical Asia (Indian subcontinent, mainland Southeast Asia, and southern China).

  • Their size. Great whites can grow up to 15 feet long and need to be constantly in motion in order to extract oyxgen from the water. Unlike many other fish, they don't inhale water through their mouths and let it pass over their gills, but rather let it pass over as they swim. No aquarium can produce a large enough tank to properly facilitate this.
This is what I was trying to say. They migrate between foraging & reproductive areas travelling over 2,500 miles annually.

There are a lot of deer I want, but I know I won't get even half of them:
  • Reeve's muntjac.
  • Pere David's.
  • Barasingha.
  • Southern pudu.
Those are probably my top four. I want the roe deer, too, just because I usually build in Scotland and they were everywhere when I lived there, so it would be fun to kind of have "wild" roe deer living in an area "outside" the zoo.

Don't know if this fits in the speculation thread as I don't believe we will get such a pack, but the only way I'd like a "farm animal" pack or something would be, if we were talking worldwide.

So this would include things like:
  • Watussi Cattle
  • African Dwarf Goat
  • Alpaka
  • Highland Cattle
.... anyone being firm with Asian and Oceanian Farm animals that differ from other regions, feel free to chime in..,.
But that actually would be a fun pack for me, much more fun than a petting zoo pack and some of these animals could be used for this kind of projects either way.

Hot take but we do not need a deer from each continent.
yeah deer dont really add much to the game in terms of major niches filled the only continent that needs deer is europe since europe has nothing else major going for it besides birds which we all know isnt happening in terms of deer that are a must have the peres david deer is the only on for me since it is another fairly recognisable extinct in the wild animal that would compliment the oryx well.

That is definitely a hot take. You prepared for the pitchforks and torches?

I mean, with that reasoning, we don't need a sloth bear, ABB, or spectacled bear, either, yet we all want them.
But still, that's your opinion, even if I personally don't agree...

And all the in-game deer are from Europe. Europe needs wild boar and wisent, at the very least

Visayan spotted deer, Sambar, Père David’s deer and two Americas species would fill it out well and those locations don’t have many other herbivores

Europe still requires Wildcat, Red Squirrels, Bison, Boar and Marmots to be slightly complete. All those species are widely kept in European zoos
