Winter 2023 DLC Speculation

Also new question came to mind. Since recently we have seen animals who have almost no captivity presence in packs as “wildcards” if we do get Highlands/Alpine, what’s your non captivity animal?

I already know mine.

I’m honestly still confused how we got the cassowary in the AU pack before the emu. One’s far more iconic to Australia, especially the deserts, and one most people have probably never heard of. I would really think they would put the emu in the first pack and then the more niche cassowary. Glad we got both tho, the australian bird selection is awesome now.

If we got the Emu in the AU pack it probably wouldn’t look as good as it does.

Cassowary is just the cooler looking animal aswell as more unique from the ostrich due to size and color. Makes sense they went for the one thats more distinct so close to release imo.

Australian bird selection still really stinks imo, but that goes for every continent

(Japanese Serow)

Yellow tailed woolly monkey found in the peruvian andes' cloud forests.
Its basicly a howler monkey but not quite, aswell as not in captivity at all (atleast that i could find)

The question was what you would prefer to be the wildcard, you really want a golden weird nosed monkey over a baboon?

Well I have 3 baboon habitats to build (2x hamadryas, 1x gelada) along with a hyrax habitat, serval habitat and other monkeys that will mostly likely be completed before the winter dlc, so yeah why not. I'm always up for funny unique animals that mildly annoy others.

(Japanese Serow)

Doing the whole "uhm actually" while its not kept internationally anymore, the japanese serow is still very common in japan and with japan as one of the countries with the most zoos, that does mean something.
They also look very similar to the other serows, especally the chinese thats kept in the EAZA so the japanese would more or less just be the coolest one with nostalgia thats also the most common serow in captivity and most iconic to culture.
So while i prefer a few other goats, its really not a bad choice
