Winter 2023 DLC Speculation

Also- I don't mean to get anyone's hopes up, but the special livestream for the Tropical Pack wasn't announced until 3:47 PM EST (7:47 PM BST). Planet Zoo hasn't posted on their socials yet, and don't they usually on Mondays? It's not a holiday in the U.K. right? 😂
Not a holiday but I have managed to spend most of the day shirking work and being on here anyway 😂 gotta love hybrid jobs!

White Nosed Coati and Southern Tamandua instead please! The SA Coati is (as far as I’m aware) being phased out of lots of zoos in Europe due to its classification as an invasive species. And I don’t think the Northern Tamandua is held in any zoos here?
The White Nosed Coati is a stunning colour and represents a variety of biomes and countries in Central America. The Southern Tamandua would go AMAZING in an Amazon themed Tropical House with the Sloth and Capuchins.

I don't care how janky the climbing system is. 😂 Tamarins as habitat animals, and two-toed sloth in the WE. I'd sacrifice the tamandua for it. But as this is, it would already be my favorite animal pack.
Agreed. I just cannot imagine a situation where Frontier opts to include something as highly active as a tamarin in walkthroughs when they clearly think the climbing system is serviceable enough. I'd frankly be incredibly disappointed if we wound up getting tamarins stuck on a loop - I'd rather just not get them at all. Monkeys in habitats, two-toed sloth for the exhibit.

Agree. I just can't get attached to my WE exhibit animals the same way as my habitat ones. Even having the sloth in there makes me a little sad. I know why they did it, just saying.

Honestly I get the sentiment towards walk through exhibits, but personally I would rather have an animal in game than not. Most bird species in zoos don’t move around much at all, and if they do it may be from a handful of points. I think that is serviceable for getting looped animations. If I get an owl for my zoo and it stays in one spot for 12 hours at a time I think a looped animation works.

Though this sentiment is mostly just for birds, because I know even if Frontier doesn’t do exhibit birds they won’t make up for it with habitat birds :/
Personally I really want tamarins in a habitat.

Monkeys and birds may be the only animals I can see having a full DLC dedicated to them.

Put in the tamarin as a habitat animal instead of spider monkey and a macaw in WE and we have a perfect pack.
I really don't think we have any reason to believe we are getting flying birds based on the WE. Honestly, if we were gonna get them in the WE, it would have happened by now imo. I mean Oceania was the perfect opportunity to introduce lorikeets, but we got a second bat species instead. I think expecting flying birds at this point gas a large chance of just ending in disappointment. But this is easy for me to say, because I'm probably the only person who don't care if we get flying birds.

Switch it for the vampire bat then. And honestly is very clear at this point that frontier is holding flying birds for some reason that we don't know yet.

Birds aren't the problem, they could perfectly work in we with the looped animations. My sole problem is with tamarins being randomly trowed at the WE with the excuse of "they are too small", with isn't even true. And as i said in a previews thread i indeed rather not having tamarins rather than having them in WE.

By chance can you update it as to when we got announcements for livestreams as well and or teaser posts
Okay, I did have a little trawl in the end! The first two weren't announced on facebook. I'm not on Twitter/X but if you are I'll add the deets if you feel like taking a look. No worries if you don't!

Forget flying birds in Planet Zoo 1, only in a second game

Frontier will use Flying mechanic (and maybe an aquarium mechanic) as a feature for a possible Planet Zoo 2
Half of me actually hopes flying birds and aquariums are reserved for a second game, those 2 are the only hopes for a successful sequel that isn't just another game with fancy graphics with features as deep as a puddle.

Free update usually goes with the pack thematically.
It doesn't though?

Like, going back to the previous free updates, we know that if an update contains a certain behavior then one of the DLC animals tends to have it too; but other than that there barely ever was a thematic connection between the free update and the DLC 😅 (aside from some foliage in the later free updates, but those were never prominent features that were announced).

I agree with you.

Flying and Aquarium mechanics, a better climbing, brachiation and egg laying mechanics, exhibition animals really being living things and one of the most importat feature of a zoo game: animals with more personality and bonds with zoo keepers

Yeah but the behaviour thingy is usually a big hint as to what animal is going to be featured in the DLC and based on that you can fairly guess the theme. Happened with spitting for llamas (was obvious that we were getting the dromedary and there for some kind of desert themed pack) and the trash and scape thingy hinting to the raccoon. I don't remember about previous packs though.
