Winter 2023 DLC Speculation

The demoiselle crane is the desert crane I'm after. India needs more rep.
To me I don’t really care where the birds we get come from, I just care that they’re unique. By the time the game ends, we won’t have a lot of birds, so I want us to have a variety of birds that look different.

Grey Crowned Crane, Secretary Bird, Shoebill, Hornbill, and even a species of African stork are pretty unique.

Fair enough, but of all the regions in the game India is the most lacking. We have only a handful of species; Indian rhinoceros, Indian elephant, Indian peafowl, and the dhole. A few technically count, like the red panda and snow leopard. And besides, I just like the demoiselle crane more than most others.

There's room for a full India Animal Pack or a smaller India Pack (though the scenery becomes an issue, unless they pick an out-there theme for it, since an Indian theme already exists).

Grey crowned crane would be nice, I'd have no complaints against it. All this talk always makes me more antsy for a proper chain-link building set though. A lot of these smaller birds are rarely displayed outside of aviaries regardless of how much they fly, and I'd like a way to properly build them without having to fiddle with tiny pieces to fill in angled gaps or try and maneuvre those prop fences into the correct positions (plus, you know, a bunch of in-game animals already exist that wouldn't typically be displayed in open-air habitats, like clouded leopards, even fossa).

You do realize one dlc left does not contradict them publicizing the game?

I tend to think the game will extend beyond one more dlc, but their tiktok and merch is not evidence either way.
I think the general idea is that why go to the trouble of heavily promoting something if only to abandon it a few months later it means support specifically isnt going anywhere soon whether dlc is included in that support is still unknown. People seemingly forget that dlc isnt the only way devs support the game. They may finish up the dlc early next year and spend the rest of the year on free updates that fix problems or animal designs. Maybe there are no more updates either and they just continue franchise challenges and promote those instead. There are many ways the game is supported beyond dlc and them promoting the game more means yes there will be suppport but what kind is unclear.

No need for an India based pack, highlands can help you out. Pallas Cat, Takin and Markhor all live in India. It’s not a huge fill, but it helps.
Im definetly in favor of an india pack. While yeah pallas, takin and markhor occur in india, they arent really the animals you asociate with india (But good additions nevertheless)
What comes to mind when hearing "missing indian animals" is more like blackbuck, nilgai, lion tailed macaque and stuff like that.

An Indian animal pack would be something i welcome with open arms
-Nilgai
-Grey langur
-Honey badger
-Zebu cattle
-Red jungle fowl
-Lion tailed macaque
-Blackbuck
-King cobra

Honorable mentions to: Asiatic lion, Axis deer, painted stork

No there isn't (not here at least - I can't speak for the YouTubers because I don't watch their videos). There are people (like me) saying that "more PDLC in FY24" doesn't guarantee anything past winter or spring. Nobody is saying definitively that there is only one DLC left, just that there could be because literally nobody knows except Frontier.
I agree on the forums have a very different view of of I will say controlled expectations people speculating to infinity and people who stick to strictly whats confirmed
youtubers on the other hand constantly say this is going to be the last pack or have titles like planet zoo support ending? where they speculate that this year will be the last and you will get these videos after every dlc and every year interestingly enough most of these videos are filled with aviaries or aquariums being a final major pack.

Honey Badger and Blackbuck can fit in a scrublands animal pack, combine that with the 3 in a highlands pack, that’s +5 for India, which is enough for me personally. If we only have 2-3 more packs I’m not fond of giving one of those slots to India.

YouTubers crave attention so they engineer clickbait. It's literally their bread and butter. Ignore their sensationalism - they're good for inspiration on habitat and zoo design but not much else.

Speculating that this is the final year is fine and reasonable, I will say - it's at least as equally reasonable as speculating another year or two or whatever. Since nobody actually knows anything.

I never understood the need/want for the roadrunner, and I still don’t. It’s not that iconic compared to other birds (much more important birds) we need like pelicans or ducks. It also feels like a weird one to build a habitats for. Maybe it’s just cause I’ve never seen one irl.
I would argue that it is iconic when most people where im from think of an American desert they think cactus, roadrunners and coyotes. The use of ducks and pelicans is a weird comparison choice because yes these animals would be more iconic and recognisable but these are much larger groups of animals than the single genus of roadrunners. Most people could not tell pelican species apart and alot people would only likely be able to name the mallard as a duck species.

The two examples I have weren’t that important, I could’ve said Secretary bird and a stork, point is, if we have a limited number of birds especially desert ones I prioritize other birds ahead of it.

just because they are doing it for clickbait doesnt mean they arent doing it it will still influence the community especially those loosely engaged getting most of thier pz content from these youtubers.

Oh people did think the folder removal meant something not this particular thread which i have only seen say it means nothing but there has been discussion on what it means
No. I'm the one who initially brought it up before anyone else did. All I said was, "they removed the Content 16 and Anniversary folders, strange" or something to that effect. I got an explanation immediately - that they'd done it before so it didn't mean anything. I accepted that and moved on, but then a bunch of people piled on screaming about "DOOM POSTING" and sarcastically suggesting support was ending even though I'd never implied anything of the sort.

It's issue with both Planet Zoo and Jurassic World Evolution 2. A lot of people I've noticed in the JWE2 community think support is gonna with every dlc that is release and to some extent the Planet Zoo community as well. I don't know where people get the idea of "OH IS THIS THE LAST DLC?" when we know practically nothing about when they want to plug support. But right now Planet Zoo and JWE2 are their golden goose/beard winner when it comes to Frontier right now.

That's exactly the issue though - usually you'd be correct, and it's just sensationalist nonsense, but this time around the idea of support ending hasn't been "this is the last DLC" but rather "there's a stronger chance now than ever that we are nearing the end of support for X, Y, and Z reasons". There are good, solid reasons to believe support is coming to an end in the near future. Personally I'm banking on one more year of support at least through FY2025 but even I think that's still optimistic. I definitely don't think Winter will be the last, but I'm mentally prepared to not get anything after Spring, just in case.
